Why does it matter if death threats were made?
Threats are just words too.

If there was any evidence of death threats, I'd say people went too far. But I read through the whole thread and the offender only claimed death threats. If they can't back that up with names (or even better, screenshots highlighting the threat on the chat screen), then I'm inclined to believe they're making it up, especially when I look at all their other posts and the attitude presented in them.

You should learn that in life every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
He made a very strong action and you shouldn't be surprised at the similar strong reaction.
No.
I just said that if you do something strongly one way, expect to get a similar strong reaction.
You give someone 20,000g? Expect a strong reaction.
You take someone's 20,000g? Expect a strong reaction.
He basically formed a 25 man group, then held the loot hostage as he tried to auction each piece off. That is a fairly strong action. The reaction was equally strong.
Your applying Newtonian physics to human psychology? Yikes, what school are you going to? Just to show the hole in the glass, what about bad people who haven't gone to jail? What about non violent drug offenders in jail?
Honestly, it sounds like it's getting a bit out of hand. I would still raid with the guy, obviously he just wouldn't be master looter...

VoA is an incredibly challenging instance and the loot that drops there is probably the hardest in the game to get your hands on. The fact that these poor souls spent countless hours, dare I say days, of their time to kill these near impossible bosses, only to find out that their beloved loot be taken hostage for an insanely high amount of gold in a world where no one has over 100g...that's just terrible.

Oh you didn't get your loot? Cry about it, then run the dungeon again. IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.
When did people become such babies, crying over something so trivial as VoA? VoA is mind numbingly easy. Just wait for the reset, and run it again. It's really not that big of a deal. I dont see how an entire server can justify hating one person for being a jerk. Everyone in the land of Internetz is a jerk. What makes this jerk so special?
OMG HE RAN DA RAIDZ N I DIDNT GET MAH LEWTZ SO HES A JERK LOL.
Grow up.

Wowhead, I'm disappointed in you. Yeah, the ninja is a jerk, but it appears you're as bad as the hyper aggressive trade chat and raid members were. It is just a game. Yeah, go ahead and black list the player, big deal. He can server switch, name change, or even reroll, and you'll never know.
Making death threats is a criminal offense. It is never justified to make such threats in a video game. Anyone that would get to the point where they would make such a threat is immature and repulsive.
We can assume that none of them would act on these statements, which only further indicates how pathetic they are. You want to make threats across the internet? Make threats that you can carry out across the internet. Black listing, corpse camping, whatever, but making threats against another players life is sick. These players, not the ninja, should be banned.
If loot rules are discussed prior to the run, then you can report the leader if he changes them. If they aren't, then you're stupid for not asking, and you deserve having your gear taken if you're that worried about it.

but server transferring, even within the battlegroup, removes you from all such lists.

I would like it to happen to everny ninja on every realm!
'Anti-Ninja Project' would be great!
This. If every realm was this responsive to ninja-looters, there wouldn't be any.
Sadly, not true. Blizzard have tried their level best to remove any kind of accountability for one's in-game actions (server/faction transfers, name changes, random LFD etc etc), and unfortunately even on servers where the players try to counter this by blackballing reprehensible characters, there will always be more anti-social little !@#$s in the woodwork.

Aye, but if he server transfers.... you shouldn't care heh, but if he is in the same battlegroup, the ignore function will still keep you from every randomly grouping up with him.

Right, but only if you know his new name and server. As far as I know, transferring removes you from all ignore lists too.
edit: pyramid too big, calling pharaoh.
