Is it just me or do some tanks/healers have big egos?

I used to have that attitude of if you insult me or my friends no heals or no taunts off you on my tank/heals, usually works fine in five mans but in a raid it's not always the best case to let your dps die, no matter how *!@#$%^ish they are being...

My own faults? It is annoying when a tank is inconsiderate about others' time just how it is bad when dpsers can't do enough dps to kill mobs efficiently. Last time I checked, the group as a whole controls the pace of the group and not just the tank. When push comes to shove, if the tank sits around and stares at each mob for like 5 secs before he engages them then yeah, there is going to be a problem with that.
I never pull aggro off the tank intentionally. Actually, I make sure that I attack the tank's target, and sometimes, I do more than what I'm supposed to do by pulling aggro off healers and other spellcasters when I notice the tank isn't going to do it or doesn't notice. I never constantly pull monsters if the tank isn't going fast enough. I hardly ever do it.
Yes its your own fault for doing the wrong thing. Theres no give here you pulling monsters is wrong and your not supposed to do it end of story. And lets put it this way I believe the quote is
A good tank can make up for a poor healer. A good healer can make up for a poor tank. A good tank and healer can make up for poor dps. Good dps can make up for.....poor dps
And when your telling them to pull faster then yes the pace is set by the tank. Pace meaning speed of pulls not speed of kills. Get over yourself your in the wrong people have told you that and your just not accepting it. The problem isnt tank egos its your inability to know your place within a group which unfortunately for you is waiting for the tank to pull rather then pulling monsters on your own.

I tank as a Prot Warrior, level 71, and heal as a Resto Druid, level 80.
These are my rules for letting DPS die. You might even be able to call it
triage
.
Tanking:
A DPS who goes all-out on a mob that I haven't started tanking yet (LoS pull, ranged pull, etc) won't get taunted off. A couple repair bills and they may learn their lesson.
A DPS who isn't focusing the {skull} gets to tank the one he is on as much as the heal lets him. I rarely mark and then only when the group obviously needs to know an order (all 3 dps each focusing a different mob, usually none of them on my primary).
DPS than intentionally pull because I'm "going to slow" tend to die on my watch as well. If I don't pull more, it might be because pulling more will either kill me or I won't be able to hold them all.
Healing:
DPS in the "fire" don't get heals. You get healed after you get out. Stand in the fire and you'll be cheaper to res.
Locks that tap to 0 mid-fight tend to die from AoEs. You can tap mid-fight, but be reasonable. I'll toss a heal to a Lock that taps, but if I'm spamming the Tank to keep up, I can't toss a heal to a reckless Lock.
Rebirth is only for people who don't fail. Druids (especially Healers and Raiders) learn when to Battle-Res. If you don't get one tossed to you within 5sec of you going down, don't get your hopes up for one.
Edit on the topic of corpse runs: I use corpse runs as a learning tool. If the healer releases, everyone should release. If you caused your own death (standing in fire, not Feigning/Vanishing/Invising/ Fading/etc.), depending on the length of the run, you may not get a res. Also, I NEVER res anyone in ToC. They can run back in the amount of time it takes me to cast Revive, and they'll have three times as much health that way.

Any veteran tank that plays semi-competitive wil see DPS as lesser. It commes natural.
It's just that DPS are so often complete morons it ain't even funny.
No I haven't tanked in 2years.

If the tank sits around and stares at each mob for like 5 secs before he engages them then yeah, there is going to be a problem with that.
1. Waiting for healer to catch up
2. Waiting for healer to mana up
3. Waiting for cooldowns
4. Deciding how to pull
5. Typing something to the group / someone in the group
6. Coughing / sneezing / dying irl
Exactly it. I was going to address this same point with a nearly identical response.
If I'm standing in front of a pull not doing anything, 95% of the time, I'm waiting for Avenger's Shield or Divine Plea to come off CD. After all, I need to have mana for the extra mobs that are going to be pulled for me by DPS.

Whenever I tank I just do my job, if the healer won't heal me then good for him, let us wipe.
Whenever I am healing, I don't heal whoever !@#$ed me off or is being an %^&*!@ bag.
Whenever I am dps'ing I usually just dps and don't pick fights... why would I? I'm just there for the run

There are people in the game with egos, for certain. It is not limited to Healers and Tanks, by any means. I would say it is
better justified
for Tanks and Healers. (Though, I have also known some rather congenial and self-effacing Tanks and Healers too) I don't think anyone NEEDS to be an arrogant arse. But I'm willing to cut a good tank or healer -- or, a top DPSer -- a bit of slack.
On my DPS toon, I can adhere to a few, simple rules, and generally keep from causing a problem. Then I follow the crowd and kill what needs killin'.
Tanks and Healers need to know the bosses, know the trash-mobs, and know the layout of the dungeons, so that they can best deal with problems as they occur. They NEED to know. They also cannot follow a set rotation so easily... Instead, they must be more dynamic and adaptable to whatever happens. Especially, if one of the DPS toons isn't following the aforementioned simple rules.

Personally, ive played Both the Tank and Healer roles. Im a strong believer in one rule.
1- Stick to your Role. If you are a DPS then stick to what the Tank pulls.
( Personally I hate it when either a Hunter MD Pulls or a DK Death Grip Pulls or even Rogue Tricks Pulls )
Let a Tank do what a tank does and so on and so forth. Not everyone is gonna run at the pace you want them too. If you dont like it then you can always leave party and Queue up for another.

OK I have a LVL 80DK tank/DPS, 80priest holy/disp, 80 hunter MM, a 74 Pally prot/ret 69 druid bear/tree ,77 Frost mage and a one of all others under lvl 50 so not worth mentioning...and no life...ALL ten toons, one of each... SO here is my take ..oh and all three 80's at or very near 5k GS, so lets just say I know the dungeons...ALL the Dungeons...so to the point...Pulling is one persons job..its the tank and unless you are "ASKed" to pull DONT..also it is NOT your objective or should not be your objective to EVER and I mean ever pull aggro from the tank....Aggro is like crapping your pants, the second of gratification is not worth the huge mess afterwords! It makes it difficult on the healers, the tanks..and yes even other DPS...case in point mister mage decides to go nuts and hits mob A while mister DK jerks mob B into D@D(death and decay) and pulls instant aggro...OK well jerk is out as Tank just used it..Mage says oh crap ..I crapped my pants ..aggro reference..and ice blocks..good move it saves him he thinks he is a hero...where does the mob go? to the healer..so tank taunts ...at the same time mister DPS DK says OH my loose mob on the healer..so what does he do? YEP he Jerks those breakinbg the taunt of the Tank...healer crapped his pants when mob came at him..aggro..and now Dk has mob ..tank is like WTF? I taunted...so he uses chains of ice..more aggro back...and guess what mister DK does...chains of ice canceling tanks ..third taunt...mean time he isnt hitting mobs in front of him...they been just resting in D@D ...and mister hunter is just volleying his littel heart out....and yeppers ...pulls the rest of the gang...Feign death FTW? and a pant crap moment...where do they go? Healer....mage recovers holy novas' and blizzards....tank throws D@D over top of healer ...and all survive....but did it have to go that way,,,,NO...just wait..let your tank get aggro..in this scene..all think they played there toon to the max..and Its all the tanks fault cause he cant hold fricking aggro? So think about what you have done in either spec, or action to assist that tank it holding aggro? Did hunter Misdirect first? DID Priest bubble before pull ? or during ..did you for go thos silly threat reducing talents ..because there was no DPS increase to them? What did you do to help?..or was your DPS numbers your goal? if a tank is worth his salt ..your safety is what is most important..when you spam recount ..put up Death's..that the only stat that matters...do a dungeon where nobody dies...and thats a good group...speed ..isnt as important as not dying...takes longer to run back then to mark and make a plan...arrogant yeah probably...but they take all the blame when YOU die...healer sucked...tank couldnt hold aggro from my eliteness? Care to guess how many times I have seen that in Party chat? after a healer or tank leaves? This is Xiafar/Xiaheal/Xiaa on Cairne server...fell free to run with me anytime after you have read this...lol and when my new tank/healer come..Hamerlin the pally and Xiabear the druid!
I had to quote in its entirety just to say that this has to be the worst post I have ever seen. Just glancing at that mess made my eyes hurt, let alone trying to read it.

FFS it's low level instances who cars, I was just healing a SM group where the warior was tanking with a two hander and could barley keep aggro on 1 of the mobs, still we finished it alright because
a) the mobs don't hit hard
b) Healer (me) was good
c) Most of us knew what to do
and even if you die your repair bill si what like 50s? Please
It's not the cost of it or anything, but the principle of the matter. I personally hate when DPS run ahead and pull for me unless I've specifically asked them to. And yes, I get them killed, because doing randoms with a guild healer teaches people very quickly to sit down, shut up and focus on their roll so I can focus on mine.
As others have said, waiting on cooldowns. Waiting on mana. Waiting for people to stop dawdling. Just because you feel you're helping speed things up by pulling more, the tank knows his own limits much better then you ever could. Just note that you may end up wasting the groups time more then these supposed egotistical tanks because you pulled more then the group could handle and caused a wipe.
Every coin has two sides you know.
