At that, how do I even know the platform wasn't supposed to regrow at a certain point? The encounter was untested on the PTR, therefore I believe they would have had no way to know of the bug ahead of time.
While this may seem like a sensible arguement, they completed the fight on 10-man beforehand, so they knew the mechanics of the fight very clearly. Ensidia is not a guild of dumb people - they
knew
the fight wouldn't be easier on 25-man than on 10-man (by making the platform "randomly regrow" on 25 and not 10).

Why the bug was there does not matter, Ensida completed the boss fight knowing it was there, knowing it made the fight massivly easier and decide to cry when they get banned.
They know the bug was there, but (according to them, and unless I see it proven that they were intentionally placing bombs for that reason I will believe them) they didn't know what was causing it. On bugged encounters, progression guilds dont give up and say "oh I'll do it later", they wait and hope it works. Look at Prince Malchezzar, I'd say 95% of the guilds that downed him abused the "bug" that there are pockets which could not get an infernal. None of them got banned and they KNEW what was going on.
EDIT:

I'm not saying they're dumb. I'm saying I dont see evidence that they knew the cause of the bug, especially within the timeframe they had on the fight.

I find it funny that there's so many people out there that are making themselves feel all important and mighty by posting that ensidia deserved the ban and they should have done this and they should have done that. really? you guys need to get off your high horse.
If you were in their situation, doing the encounter for the first time, no one has tested it on the ptr, you have no strat to work off of, you have limited attempts on the boss, and your going for world first kill. Suddenly during the fight something happens...you have no idea how it happened but it did. i doubt anyone here would say "alright stop and wipe it. i opened a gm ticket. everyone go do dailies or something while we wait for the gm to respond"
if you honestly believe you would do that your just lying to yourself. Every bug, glitch, and in-game mechanic that has given a guild a slight or large advantage in defeating a boss has been exploited to hell. If it was such a large advantage it was usually fixed rather quickly. some that only provided a small advantage took weeks to be hot-fixed. but usually by the time it was fixed hundreds of guilds had taken advantage of it to get thru the content and aquire the upgrades to make the next raid that much easier. The only reason this is such a huge deal is because it's not just a boss...it's Arthas. The most Iconic character in warcraft. they didn't want anyone else following ensidia's footsteps in defeating the lich king the way they had so they made an example of them. yes they've banned/suspended others before but in most cases it was pre-determined by the guild to do it that way. You gotta give them some credit...they did find the glitch and managed to kill him in 10 tries.
i do agree that the achievement and loot should have been reset because it was a world's first...however, suspension is alittle harsh...it's not their fault it happened. it did and blizzard could have handled it alittle differently imo.

I'm not saying I know what's going through their mind, and I'm not a fanboy by any means - but I do find it hard to believe that they were knowledgable of this bug.
They knew that it was supposed to fall apart, they had it work correctly once or twice in their attempts that night. Read their blogs, they said so themselves.

But that's not the point. The point is that they had no idea what was causing the bug, and therefore they had no way to prevent the bug from occurring. They basically had two choices: keep going at it or just stop completely.
Given the fact that they're a high-end raiding guild whose goal is (presumably) to clear content as quickly as possible, it's understandable that they kept on attempting him even though they knew something was wrong, rather than waiting for a hotfix. I'm willing to bet that other guilds have unintentionally triggered this bug as well (Saronite Bombs are popular these days), yet it's only Ensidia that is receiving all the attention since they were the first to take him down.

It's amusing how far some of you people have your heads in the sand.
There's a reason that the combat log they released is missing several minutes of bombs, there's a reason they haven't released a video, and there's a reason they are suspended.
Also, the no one gets suspended for exploiting HoR is because it doesn't matter, and no one cares. Cheating on content that any idiot with a pulse can beat is a non-issue, and they'd never waste time investigating it. World first kills, on the other hand, have a
lot
of visibility, and are much more likely to draw scrutiny.

I'm sure they can. They know the fight, and it's clearly beatable as others have done so without the exploit. I don't even really care about the use of the bug, it's the lying that makes the ban taste good as far as I'm concerned.
I haven't personally done the fight yet, but we have a couple 10 mans that have made some pulls, and our 25 man is on him with 16 left, but we aren't raiding until Monday.

I know I wouldn't have stopped if I were them. I would have thought "something's wrong here...but whatever its not our fault and its making it easier." I would have reported it after the raid time because I'm not going to hold up my raid just because of a bug
that we have no idea what's causing it
.
As to their positioning...Wowwiki strategy suggests tanking him on the edge, so on the between phases he has farther to move. So that strategy reflects the positioning used by Ensidia.
From what I can tell, this isn't like Malchezzar, where it was "ok, this spot can't get Infernals so everyone stand here except the tank." That exploit was used by virtually every guild or pug I was in, and none of us got banned - they just fixed it. This exploit, from what I can tell, they knew the bug was making it easier but they didn't know what was doing it. As a world-first guild of players that are paid to be such, I would expect them to keep going.
