Fixed.
So I just read all this over and basically what I'm getting from it is a minority of people think heroics are srs business and the majority realize that running heroics is like facerolling while eating a snickers bar.
Seriously though, if you're a !@#$ty tank and the rest of the group is in at least T9 then they'll have absolutely no problem finishing the heroic without you while you QQ about them pulling aggro off you. On the other hand if you're a competent tank then the run goes a lot smoother, the DPS and and healer will respect you more (most likely) and the run will generally go smoother.
And PROTIP for those tanks who have trouble with multiple mob aggro, tab-target you mobs. If you're facing away from the group and there is another trash group not far in front of you and you keep tabbing onto them. . . wait for it. . . TURN THE GROUP AROUND and face your party. Despite what certain players with certain mental illnesses may think, you will NOT take more damage, and will NOT lose the ability to dodge/parry/block as long as the mobs are still in front of YOU. Just be careful that you do not pull the second group.

1.) If you rush me, i will walk. (Tanks determine the pace, based on how comfortable they are with the instance. Rushing them to pull faster is a good way to wipe.)
2.) If you pull it, you tank it. (I refuse to pull aggro off of you until you die, or until the mob/mobs die.)
3.) If you drop an AoE, before the tank. Expect to take damage. (Most tanks have to run into the group to AoE them, excluding DK's. Count to 5 stay alive.)
4.) Hunters/Rogues, you have threat 'sharing' abilities for a reason. If you find yourself stripping me of aggro more than once, try using them.
5.) That is all.
Code of Tanking:
1) If you rush me, I shall consider how good the Healer is and act accordingly. If you or the healer is a bad, do not expect me to comply, it's for your own good.
2) If you pull it, I will attempt to save the entire group including myself a lot of trouble and pick it up. However, if I fail to do so, do not berate me for your faults.
3) If you drop an AOE before the Tank, expect to take damage. However, if I do say so myself, I have rather quick reflexes and can pick up quite quickly. If you're standing to close, you may die, and don't berate me for it. I will probably give you a very polite suggestion that I pull fist.
4) If you have a threat transferring ability, it would be greatly appreciated if you pass it on to me. I will ask politely if you do not. It only helps us all. However, I can probably hold the threat without it, so if you're gonna throw a fit I'll leave it.
5) Is that alright with you?

Did being a cry baby become part of the requirements for tanking? From this thread I have to think so.
That or every tank who posted here is going through their PMS...
Yeah we do need to change our rags once in a while :)
Honestly though..if you have never rolled a tank..then you can never understand.
It's just matter of approach. DPS care about numbers....tanks concern themselves with strategy...it's just a habit hard to break, even in the easiest dungeon. It's why we mark..why we kite...when there is a mob of five, we have to concern ourselves with what each one of them is targeting..we like order. But sometimes you get a group that remind you of those old time electronic vibrating football games...you painstakingly place each player on the field and then turn it on and watch all the pieces vibrate in 12 different directions..and you sit there scratching your head thinking "WTF"

I once tanked Hellfire Citadel with my DK (please save the groans people,) and admittedly I'm slow, basically because I'm new to tanking, and more so, because I was marking the adds. Factor in that I was watching the healer's mana, and making sure I was always the one who had threat we were doing fairly well until we got to one spot, and the dps had enough of me taking my time (and should note that this was a guildie who had a tank of his own.)
So, I go to pull, and as soon as I do he does a pull as a well. I almost yelled at him on vent, and then realized 'you know, if he wants to tank so bad, let him tank.' Needless to say he died, I killed those adds, and we rezzed his sorry backside. I didn't say anything--didn't have to really, because I think the message was clear: he wasn't the tank. And after that little incident he never tried that again.
Sometimes it takes stunts like that before dps realize why a tank, tanks. I'm not being 1337 , or however you wish to read into it. Tanking is a challenge, in fact a nice challenge and a change from dps (lvl. 80 mage is my main,) and has given me a bit more respect for the role of the tank--and being a clothie alone affords an additional measure of appreciation for the role.
As an aside, what's with all the DK Tank hate? I've had the privilege of running dungeons with at least 3 DK Tanks while I was leveling my main alone, and hit one Heroic HoL with one of them as well. I dare say they were some of the finest tanks I'd ran instances with, never wiped once with any of them and certainly never died. Maybe I've never had a bad experience with a DK tank.
My code for Tanking:
1. Please don't expect me to know the ins and outs of tanking in
regular
instances--
Heroic
instances are a different thing entirely.
2. If everyone with a mana bar has 50% or less mana, or for that matter just says 'oom', I will not pull until you have recovered said mana.
3. You pull it intentionally, you tank it intentionally. I'm sure the healer will find it is easier to rez you than to keep you alive.
4. If you manage to generate enough threat to pull a mob away from me, I will do everything in my power to make sure you do not die--period!
5. I am not a God, a Glory !@#$%, or a WoW's gift to Pugging kind and therefore will not act like it. If I need help--forget a fight or the likes- I will ask!

Was doing CoS H with a ret paladin friend. We finished pulls (started, killed the mobs, went to the next wave) before the tank got there.

wow, that's silly. If I'm tanking and some kicking rogue is pulling threat off me all the time with his 6k dps then I need to start bringing out my A game, because he sure is. Start making sure you are using your arro reducing abilities on him, or at the very least watch him incase he pulls. A dps should not have to start doing their job worse so you can do your job easier.
