The real reason why Recount needs to die is....
...Math doesn't work that way!
Recount is often used to show the supposed lack of dps, heals, threat, whatever.... but it rarely uses a sample-size large enough to do a true performance analysis.
With any statistical analysis, you have to evaluate over a large enough range to get an accurate assessment.
If you just look at the numbers for the first few fights (trash mobs) or even the whole dungeon run, this is not enough data. Instead recount users should compile the data from several dungeon runs to find their average dps.
I doubt anyone cares about "dungeonruns"

Recount is very useful in some cases, it's just abused in most cases.
Quoted for Truth. That very well sums up the situation.
Those who will ruin the morale and fun-factor of the game for their friends and guild over a number are pretty immature. However, in an instance run, it is the damage-per-second which gets the job done. A balance needs to be found and kept. And, IMHO, Recount needs to be used as a diagnostic tool to assist improvement, and not as a means of belittlement.
I run recount on every instance run I do. But, I have a strict rule with myself about NOT sharing it with others. Paying attention to the bars, and to what my team (or PUG) is doing, helps me to understand what actions I'm taking are helpful or not.
However, Recount is also completely blind to the fact that my DPS dropped here, here and there, when I was putting a new soulstone on the Healer. Or, when the Healer got aggro, and I ended up pulling the mob onto myself to save us from a wipe. These are some of the
most
important things I did in the dungeon run, and Recount gives them zero attention at all.
