Skypaw, all the links are broken. Remove the wowhead from each one.
also, i just wanted to say that all humans which put their arms to the side are christian
They're christian because they put their arms at their sides? That makes no sense whatsoever.
also..
Gnomes
are obviously christian.. i mean look at how they look like a cross when they cast.
Again, nonsensical point. Anyone who puts their arms out to their sides would shape up like a cross. Does that mean everyone is Christian? =/
Religion + Videogame = No. Just, No.

no, the priests are not christians.
yes, priests in wow in a lore sense does believe in a religion.
a chart of organisation majority of races priests and religion are:
Humans: Church of light
Dwarves: Church of light.
Blood elf: Church of blood(the same order blood knight has i would assume they are part of).
Undead: Church of forgotten light/shadow(Basically most undead was human priest so they use a sort of twisted view on how the light, they take their strenght from shadows).
Trolls: Loa worships, they draw strenght from primal worship.
Night elf: Worship elune(They do rites at the moonwells and pray to elune and not the light).
So priests as a whole is divided somewhat. They believe in different things, but they still share common practices mostly so they are still priests:)
Also i know the names of organisation may be wrong on a few of them, just consider it a sketch who was drawn hastily.

In Warcraft 1 and 2 humans got churches (would upgrade to cathedrals) to train priests and paladins.
Selecting a church would play the text 'Deus Gratia' sung.
Orcs had temple of the damned to train warlocks and deathknights. It would play some kind of death metal grunge when selected.

Sarcasm, dear. sarcasm.
people prowowchristian in this thread have been saying that priests are christian due to the crosses. a human putting his arms to the side will from a distance look like a cross.
this do not make him christian.
as people have been stating earlier in the thread.
being a priest means that you are a disciple of a religion. it does not say anything about which religion you are a disciple of. The different races have different religions, IE priests are disciples of a made up religion which only exists in the world of warcraft. This religion is based on your race

Please,please, just stop replying to this thread....

Have a look at Paladin. Paladins are tightly connected to medieval European christianity.
Actually now I'm puzzled Blizzard made this into a class, while banning all player stuff even slightly connecting to religion.

There is no YHWH equivalent to the beliefs of paladins or priests. They worship the Light itself.
To analogise, it would be like Christians worshipping their definition of good.
From a THEOLOGICAL point of view, shaman are more like Christians than priests and paladins, as they at least have deity equivalents (Elemental Lords, and thus ultimately the Old Gods).
The Light has more similarities to Dharmic faiths such as Jainism, Buddhism and some branches of Hinduism, as they follow an ideal, not a deity.

Here troll, have some yum-yum. And stay away from the Voodoo!
Any game will be inspired by the symbols, rituals, stereotypes etc. from the culture it is trying to appeal to. Simply, because creating unique ones is too confusing for the players.
Fantasy dwarves: short, hairy, grumpy, like bear and gold.
Pretty looking people = good; ugly looking people = evil.
Cross = religious
Ankh = ancient symbol
Wizards (by any other name) have staffs.
Light = good
Shadow = bad
Buildings of learning are tall and bright; Imposing buildings have steps leading up to columns.
Blizzard will never ever incorporate an existing religion in Wow. That way lies ruin. As it will always ^&*! somebody off.

Blizzard does make religion into the game. Yet the religion has to be dead, suppressed, backwater otherwise unable to react. A dead cult adds a lot of story line for zero infringement. And picking on bad aspects makes a lot of roleplaying volunteers.
I wonder what AQ20/AQ40 would have looked like if classical Egyptian religion still would be practised. Have a look at 'druid', another class based on a dead cult. According to celtic cult a holy man, now a 12 year old can play one for $10 a month.

1. Both Kemetic(Egyptian) and Celtic Reconstructionism are still vibrant faiths, each withover a million members or so.
2. Druids in WoW have NOTHING to do with Celtic beliefs at all.
3. Polytheism were never cults. They were major world religions that entire continents followed. There was also no entry fee, and had no resemblence to cults, which are a very new thing (<200 years)

If priest and pallys have nothing to do with cristianity then why the Holy damage is the only unresistable type of damage amonge other gods and powers in wow (elunes uses arcane powers but its a resistable type of damage)?
and dont tell me that is the most "pure" and "good" power in wow cause its so crististian.
All the cristianity have to do with holy and holyness personalities, actions and beings.
The irony of Christianity being called pure, incorruptible and unresistable made me lol.

The difference between a religion and a cult is: a cult has enforced exit fees. The fees usually are payed in friends or family, sometimes in human life (probably yours).
