I've run in to a few gold beggars in my time, and even seen a few people who said they've done it. Most players don't seem too fond of players who beg for gold, it seems.
How about it? Ever done it? And if you did would you admit to doing it?

I would admit it if I did. But I am too independent to even ask friends for gold. Even if offered I am reluctant to take it.
A buddy offered me 3k gold so I could get my epic flyer, but I couldn't take it. Damn pride.

I have never begged for gold, which is why gold beggers annoy the everliving hell out of me. I earned all my stuff myself and they damn well should to.
Even my very first mount I managed to get at level 40, by farming GREY items, and leather, but a lot of Greys. Basalisk parts which vendored decently.

I agree ^^
Although i dont have a lvl 70 myself...
Im used to getting gold... and I lets say... Make people help me =)
The best way to get gold is to give money to the poor unless they aren´t "Bums" as you just said.
Nice attitude is the way to get gold ^^

I borrowed 100g from a guildie to get a pressing enchant and respec before a raid once. And 50g from a friend on another toon for something ... don't remember. They both got it back within a day or two. That's the furthest I've gone in goldbegging. I would never sink so low as to start begging for 1-2g at the org/uc/sw/if/whatever mailbox. So there's really nothing to admit. Is there?

Well...
I wouldn´t call it begging.
Just make them more positive against me.
Its like... Being the teachers pet just to get higher grades.

I don't beg for gold, it's easy enough to come by as it is now (I'm doing 4-5 easy daily quests a day and that's largely enough).
For the same reasons, I don't give gold either, especially since i have no way to know wether the beggar is a parasite or just a beginner.

Asking once or twice in /t is fine if you ask me, but spamming in local or general chat is just plain annoying and stupid and I think that their time begging inside cities can just as well be spent grinding/leveling on mobs. And anyways, if you play nice and make a few friends you can easily borrow some money from a friend or two.

I borrowed 700 g when I was farming for fast flying mount.
But the borrowing is not begging, it is totally different.
When you borrow gold, the man who is borrowing you the money, thinks that you trustworthy enough. He also expects, that you will pay your debt on time.
The begger just pathetic ask for few pieces of gold and does not want to give you anything for exchange, he is not grateful even. Just cynic method of gold farming.
The question is, when the farmers will do this a professional method to obtain gold.
