When Tanking I: Tell the healer that if he wants mana he better say so! That being said if he calls for mana he can take as long has he wants;)
When Healing I: Call for mana after trash only if below 50% and have already used all my mana regen options (pot, trink, totam, ect)
When DPS I:
I don't realy care... Y, think of the run as a trip in the car... the tank pushes the gas, the healer pushes the brake. The DPS are the wheels, wheels don't tell the driver how fast to spin them
!
This. Times 1000. Although I usually call for mana at < 25%.
Edit: I really like the analogy for the dps part. =D
Tire explodes, and you crash.
I like the analogy, but nobody follows that. Damage roles are seen as expendable if not outright detrimental to the party as a whole.
Well, I was more of less referring to the fact that DPS really shouldn't control how fast the tank pulls. I've recently grouped with a player who did just that. Said the tank was going slow and started pulling extra crap.

As a tank, I have huge problems reading out of people when they do and don't need manabreaks. I've had healers screaming for mana as soon as they reach 40% and I've had healers saying "go ahead" when they have less than 10%. If you need mana, let me know, otherwise I'll keep pulling and assume you're ok.

Unless another pack gets accidentally pulled I make some time to get out of combat when I see that the healer's mana < 50%. If not I continue my chainpull, however sometimes I do continue but just activate some cooldowns that will make me last long enough for him to regain mana.
Don't get me wrong, I respect each party member but when there's no need for downtime, why should you have some? Most of the healer's are complaining their job is too boring, let's speed things up a little then.

I play a tank... I've noticed that if i don't go fast enough people will say "GO GO TANK!". If i decide to wait nicely for mana and all that crap, if it takes longer than 5 seconds people will start pulling for me.
Basically it's this: if i don't pull, someone else will... Would you rather have controlled tanking or chaos?
I chain pull because that's what I'm expected to do ._.

I have to put in my two cents here. I play a healer and dpser in heroics. My boyfriend plays tank. When I am healing the two of us can duo pretty much any heroic, except the new ICC ones (even then we can clear almost all trash and some bosses in FoS and Pos without much effort).
Yes, it hurts to realize that dps are expendable but they are. We've finished plenty of heroics with the tank and healer doing the huge bulk of damage. We've also had groups with amazing dpsers who rushed us through everything as we chain pulled. The dpsers are a commodity, things can get done without them but they make things faster and more convenient. As a dpser I know this very well, which is why I try to be protective and respectful of healers and their mana when I dps.
Now tank/healer are a different story. They need to have some sort of feeling for each other's pace and play style, otherwise you can only rely on your gear to carry you through instances.
