Do you have a publisher? I'm very interested in reading more of your work!

I'd say because you need to know more tactics and the smaller minded people, really can't be bothered learning them.

How about the fact that out of 10 classes, only 4 have a talent tree that allows them to tank? I think that makes more sense than hunters scaring away all the tanks.

Speaking as a hunter, I can honestly say that I have never done that. Been lfd'ing ever since it started and the people on my battlegroup (dps anyway) seem to know what they are doing - the only mis-pulls I have seen have been people getting surprised by the increased agro range in the ICC 5 mans - but once caught out, not something that gets repeated.
I am finding though that some tanks and healers have developed a hell of an attitude problem knowing that they can get into any group, anywhere. The only ones so far added to my ignore list are tank (left after one boss in HoR when he didn't get the drop), tank (well geared but would not wait for anyone- including the healer), one 5k dps'er (was egging the previous tank on as he could take anything down - they both died) and a healer (continually leaves after the zombie James Brown if the bracers don't drop)
Mind you, I have a tank and a healer, so I can be a sh*t too :)
As a hunter myself, I've also never pulled anything, and always let the tank pull. But I also agree with the attitude problem -- I've met so many tanks that keep chainpulling even when the healer says they're out of mana or when it's clear we're having trouble.
Granted, in some situations I'm fine with chainpulling, particularly in the more open instances. SM - Cathedral for example, once there was a pally that said he was going to chainpull the mobs outside the cathedral, and I was fine with that. Why? Because he told us this beforehand, he made sure everyone was ready, and he didn't pull the whole place. And it was fun. And we did that instance a few more times.
I haven't had any problems with healers yet, so most have been with tanks, and the few rogues that decide to go ahead of the tank and pull.

I enjoy my warrior, but I also tab target around using sunder as often as possible(glyph ftw), while doing other stuff heh.... I admit, I really if ever use cleave while Tanking, not sure why I don't when I'm multi tanking but that's it, and I rarely have the dps rip off mobs from me.

I actually really enjoy playing a warrior tank; not only do I have to know said tactics, but aoe tanking as a warrior tank is probably the most fun I've had in the game (I'm too cool for Cleave). I really love the difficult aspects of the game and I love the challenge you can find in tanking. However, most people in the game seem to find
Death and Decay
and
Consecration
much more appealing than
Heroic Strike
and
Shield Slam
. I can't really blame them.. You're playing a fantasy RPG, after all.
Corrupting the ground
>
A strong attack
is a very common mindset.
I know Thunderclap isn't an AoE DoT, but it's still an AoE that's available and similar in that aspect.

Paladins also have a Shield Slam, it's called Shield of Righteouness, and Death Knights have various Strike abilities.

I think it's interesting the paradigm shift.
Only in the near past has tank-pulling become the norm. When I left the game (a long time ago), it was normal for the DPS to pull. I'd poly or wand pull, or the hunter would pull to tank...
How easy the game is now, I guess?

Hunters being stupid at low levels are absolutely what's causing people to not want to play tanks at 80. Absolutely.

This. Especially in raids.

Eh... I've always thought tanks are so scarce because it's much easier to level (and learn) a DPS spec. It's a poor example I am going to use, but it works...
I leveled my shaman from 1 to 70 as elemental. I knew how to play elemental pretty well (granted, I didn't have all of my spells, but I got the hang of it). Then for some reason I decided that elemental is not for me, and I should go enhancement. So I respec'ed, re-glyphed, bought some cheap blue BoEs, finished my enhancement set... and realized I had no idea how to play it. The reason I kept dying was probably my low weapon skill, but that doesn't change the fact that the whole thing just felt alien to me.
Going back to the question why there are so few tanks... well, it's hard to level 1-70 (or 80) as DPS, then get some gear and decide to tank. The change in pace takes a little while to get used to, and I guess many people cannot be bothered with it. Heck, I didn't switch my hunter from MM to SV, and the playstyle isn't that much different.
So we have harder leveling and more stress for new tanks. Not a very lucrative offer, but instant dungeon queues might be worth it.
