You are a moron who doesn't understand mathmatics, plain & simple. You are probably 12 and you mommy tells you that you are "special".
If you did know anything the about the math behind the game, probablility or statisicts you could figure out the basics in your head, and would know why what you are saying doesn't apply to the game.
The game is not about maximum hypothetical output, it is about AVERAGE output. A boss doesn't die because you got one awesome crit or an highly unlikely string of crits, it dies because the AVERAGE damage it takes over the time of the fight exceeds its total health + healing.
YOU need an 80 to do the "calculations" because YOU don't know what the hell you are doing, god I wish I had a banstick sometimes, where's my fire bucket, I need to burn a troll.

Actually Hijaal is providing us entertainment at his own expense. He doesn't know his own foolishness, we're just mocking him and playing with him, like a cat with a roach.

I need 80 since you won't get max rank on some spells until 80, won't have all talent points before 80, won't have the best gear etc.
Ah, ok. So you will do your theorycrafting on a target dummy? And only when you have "the best gear"? Yes, apparently in-game tests

on dummies are more accurate than the theoretical models. Quick! Level up and get the best gear and then you can show us your suuuuper-genius!

I have 3000 SP, my Holy Fire hits for 2970 normal and 4450 crit.
I add 50 SP and my Holy Fire hits for 3000 normal and 4500 crit.
These 50 SP just increased my damage by 1% and 1.1% respectively.
Now, instead of adding 50 SP, I add 50 crit rating, which gives me 1.1% crit and therefore increases overall damage by 1.65% [1.1% chance for a 150% damage multiplier). The increase would be even higher if the spell had a greater crit multiplier, which shadow priests have (200% -> 2.2% overall damage increase from 1.1% crit).
If I had more SP (3500+) the increase in damage I would get from adding 50 SP would be even less than what I would get from 50 crit rating (1.1% crit).
So yes, by this math crit IS better than spellpower once you reach very high ammounts of the latter.
But of course I would never stack crit rating alone;
Potent Ametrine
all the way.
Prove. Me. Wrong.

Crit is RNG. you can't rely on it.
Spell Power is constant, you can rely on it.
Only if you could gain 100% crit would crit be better than spell power, simply because it would become constant.
A bit like you, a constant PITA. and im not on about the bread.
oh, and while these guys were playing with you, and while you were playing with them, i was playing with your nipples. Suprise!

Crit provides diminishing returns. At very low levels of crit rating, each point of crit is worth more than it is at higher base levels. I don't have the exact thresholds, but you have to look at the value of adding 1% crit to a gearset with 5%, 10%, 20%, etc., also at varying levels of base spell power. The value of the additional crit varies widely depending on the base setup to which you're adding it.
Also, you can't buy gems of 50 sp and 50 crit rating. You should compare 23 sp and 20 crit rating.
Also, Karl, you're wrong. Just because crit is tied to the RNG does not make it inherently less valuable than spell power. That's thinking too superficially.
