Are you saying it's our moral obligation to get married / have children? And what exactly are you basing that off of?

I'm not sure what are you exactly trying to say here.
My point is that one goal of life is to pass on your genes and give life to two persons.
Of course everybody doesn't want to have give life because that would include responsibility and work. They don't want responsibilities and work since that wouldn't benefit them. That is selfishness.
That would
only
be a moral imperative if the most anyone could have was 2 kids. But since that is not the case, why the moral imperative? Am I selfish because I take the elevator up a 90 story skyscraper instead of the stairs? No, I'm efficient. Am I selfish because I spend every waking moment developing a cure to cancer and don't have time for a family? No.

Who says passing on genes is a "goal" of life? Every person has their own goals ... if that does not include children, that is totally up to them.
You couldn't have said that if that "goal" didn't exist.
He used goal two different ways in the sentence. Goal in quotation marks is refering to the way you use it -- something you claim objective and necessary to every person with means. He uses it to mean something subjective and optional.

The world is overpopulated as it is. It's HAVING children that could be called selfish, passing on your genes without regard to the strain it's putting on others.

Sure if someone's selfish, we can't really help it but we don't need to encourage it.
You have yet to demonstrate the validity of such an assumption.
