So, with Thrall's role a mystery still in Cataclysm, i've come up with a theory that he may be the new lich king.
And you may think that i must be mad, well i'm not. In HoR Uther states that there must always be a lich king, because without a lich king the scourge, and the undead will run rampant and destroy everything, and only the Lich King, and what he speculates is Arthas holding them back from destroying everything.
Well, once Arthas is destroyed, well there needs to be a new lich king. I think Thrall (or possibly Saurfang since he is in Northrend, and awesome) could sacrifice himself to be the new lich king, and hopefully control the scourge, and protect azeroth.
Of course i'm completely guessing. But i do think it would be pretty epic.

Except Thrall isn't at the Citadel, so unless their dragging his body to Origimaar, not happening.
We know three things: 1. Goblins find Thrall on a ship with Alliance colours. 2. Goblins rescue Thrall and he welcomes them into the Horde because of it. 3. Hyjal is about to become hell with the Firelord and his cronies attacking the regrowing World Tree, so more then likely the Shaman Thrall and the Druid Malfurion will be there beating down Ragnaros.

I say Cairne Bloodhoof. We know he disappears in Cata, but no one knows if Garrosh WTFpwns him or he just...leaves :P

And on a different note: Thrall leaves the Horde to join the new Council of Tirisfal. He's Azeroth's most powerful shaman, he's got to help save the world rather than babysit the Horde.Nope, Rehgar Earthfury is the shaman advisor for the Council.
Still, as for the Lich King thing; I'm betting it's going to be Tirion or Darion, as Lavaman Bolvar is pretty screwed up so I doubt he'll be able to put on the armour and become the new Lich.

Ner'zhul didn't even have a body when he became the Lich King... I guess that cold armor is going to feel great on those little bones.Ner'zhul's new body was the armour though heh.

Scenario One: Lich King dies, Arthas soul is redeemed, Darion or Tirion become the new Lich King.
Scenario Two: Lich King dies, Arthas soul is redeemed, Lavaman/Bolvar becomes the new Lich King.
Scenario Three: Lich King is severely injured, Arthas is redeemed, Arthas regains control over the Lich King, Arthas remains as the Lich King.
Scenario Four: Lich King dies, Jaina flips out and steals frostmourne and the armor to become the Lich Queen.
Ok, the last one sounds a bit out there, but its possible :P

/sigh The actual soul of the Lich King (aka whatever is left of Arthas/Ner'zhul) is in the Armour and possibly Frostmourne, not the dried and desiccated husk of a body that is moving around with the armour on top of it.
That's the biggest thing that makes no sense about this sudden need for a Lich King: Even if you kill that corpse, all that's going to happen is the spirit inside the Armour will take over the new Bearer and start up the end of the all living life again.

Unless you have a rational (aka not driven mad by several events) person using the armor.
cause if you think about it, Arthas was already corrupt before he became the Lich King.

Just... no... sorry..
I'm being serious here, try to legitimize this as much are you want with wrapped out theorys, but its still ridiculous.
The main reason being:
The lord of undeath needs to be associated with that, to control the undead would mean becoming that which he controls.
Also, if you want more proof that Thrall is alive and healthy in cataclysm...
try this
