Fake Battle.net Account - Password Change Notice
Return to board index
Post by
Shallaman
I just recieved a message saying that someone had changed my password on my battle.net account. The email came from Blizzard Entertainment, or at least that's what it said at first, but looking into the actual adress it was sent from it was tjmvtuwkqi21@sina.com.
They allso stated in the email that: "Account security is solely the responsibility of the accountholder. Please be advised that in the event of a compromised account, Blizzard representatives typically must lock the account. In these cases the Account Administration team will require faxed receipt of ID materials before releasing the account for play."
While this might be true, this is not the typical way of explaining things when it comes to dealing with Blizzard. (I've had my accounts locked several times so I know)
Basicly this is a heads up for the rest of you guys. If anyone else here have recieved a similar email please let me know through this post.
(funny fact the confirmation code to post this thread was scma5, an anagram for Scam:P)

My brother lost his account the same way, or at least something very similar. He's new to the game, and didn't know what to watch out for. Blizzard is in the process of restoring his main (a whopping level 40), and he is painfully lamenting having to start again at level one. If only he knew :)

Posts on how to be secure are much more appropriate like
this
or
this
. There are a ton of different scams around WoW, listing them all would not serve much purpose as few will see the same scam again.
