The Potion of Speed matters more when you're under the effect of Heroism/Bloodlust, though it's not an impressive amount. Honestly, I've been more curious about getting some
Insane Strength Potions and trying those out to see the effect on the Garg but I have yet to do so.
Of course, the Potions of Speed may well work out to be more personal DPS if you've got a pretty decent set of gear for Unholy, since Haste is so nice nowadays (until 3.3 anyway). It's the matter of does 500 Haste for 15 seconds beat the 120 Str for 15 seconds? Further, how does the ISP take into account for BoK or Unholy Strength? Do BoK and US scale automatically with new procs and effects?
EDIT: After some math and testing, BoK and US stack multiplicatively, along with Ravenous Dead's 3%, so ISP yields 156 Strength under those conditions. The only matter left, really is to figure out how much personal DPS that is worth versus the 500 Haste.
My gut feeling is the ISP will work better for the pre-pot on the pull and the PoS will work better during BL/Heroism for the Gargoyle.
EDIT 2: EJ stat weights for 3.3 (since it looks like it hits this Tues or next): Str is 3.05 points each and Haste is 1.53 points.
So an ISP is worth:
120 Str * 3.05 points = 366
Now, obviously, just from first glance, PoS is obviously stronger (500*1.53? Come on.)
500 Haste * 1.53 points = 765
I think I'll stick with the Haste potions.
My other question is if you can use the
Spiced Mammoth Treats on your Garg in combat. My feeling is no but I think it's worth a shot.
