A Guild Problem:: Not Technical, Not Unique

Well, I'm asking for the advice of the Wowhead community here on an issue that isn't really "technical" related. It is basically about the guild that I am an officer in right now. This seemed like the best place to post it. Let me give just a bit of background.
I am an officer in a guild that, at best, has around five or six active people. In the past, we have been a quite popular guild, but due to a combination of temporary lack of leadership and absence of progression, most players have moved on. However, we that remain do really enjoy each others company, and we manage to PuG an ungodly huge number of raids with more progression-oriented guilds because of the connections our leader has. Because of this, of course, it is insanely difficult to recruit, because there are no 80's on our realm that want to join a guild with no promises, and any player we recruit sub-80 usually leaves two-weeks after dinging because they want something more.
We have basically come to the conclusion that the position we are in is not sustainable, because the only people we absolutely *know* will not leave are the three of us in positions of leadership. Options that have been thrown around include an increased drive to recruit (next to impossible), or merging with another bigger guild on our server (we three really do enjoy the company and don't want to break ways completely). However, the latter is nearly impossible as well because our Guild Bank has an *insane* amount of wealth in it, since most of the time we five or six spend online is farming and such. It is to the point where, if we disbanded, there would be no way for us to distribute the wealth between us evenly, and we wouldn't feel right depositing all of it in our next guild's bank. I kind-of get the feeling that this has been the only thing keeping us together thus far.
So, I am wondering if any other people have been in similar positions, and if so, what they did moving forward. The essence of the situation is that those of us left don't want to completely disband for many reasons, but transfer also seems impossible. I am just looking for some advice or something, maybe even some recruiting advice in case I have been doing it wrong. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Your best bet is to find another guild that you can joint run with. In other words, do not merge with them, but find a guild in a similar situation (5-10 regulars seeking progression) and offer to run joint raids. Set some ground rules on loot, and keep the guild banks separate (raid mats get split, etc.).
I've successfully run with something like this for well over a year. It's not idle, but it does work.
Another option you have is to form a raiding community rather than a guild. Take your core guild, and start offering raids to people who aren't tagged (ie. you find a good player in a pug, offer them a regular spot in future raids). This is how my last raiding guild started, and it worked absolutely amazingly for almost 3 years (until loot drama from a new officer caused myself and a few others to leave).

^ That.
I have a personal Guild with 4 tabs that I use. A ton of people have a similar setup.
