You did fine. Both of you won you're loot, and you could use it, you can do with it what you will as long as it's not wasted.

On the surface it seems like you're swiping a two hander that melee classes (i.e., people who aren't just looking for a stat stick) were interested in to suck up to your guild leader.
From the fact that you seem to have a basic grasp of the English language, I'm going to assume you're being honest when you say you had planned on using it, but all I have to go on in believing that is your word. How do I really know you didn't just steal a drop for a fast track to an officer position?
Look at it this way. Say something else that you and an enhancement shaman and the hunter/guild leader of the other guild wanted. The shaman won it, promising it's an upgrade for him (and, on inspecting his gear, it is), and immediately passes it to his guild leader. Would you not assume he was just sucking up? Also wouldn't you be a little ticked that a guild leader effectively gets two rolls?

Having a hunter myself;
I wouldn't let any hunter roll on the axe, priority should have been rogues and dw
warriors
death knights & shamans prior to hunters on that one. But if a ranged weapon had dropped and all melee would have rolled on it, it would be a different matter. Then I would have rolled on the axe if it was an upgrade, but not if the raid was letting hunters have the dibs on ranged - melee weapons are only stat sticks for us. :)
And I would only let hunters roll on the glaive if they were or had dual, were gonna respecc MM and were specced for ARP. Yes, it has nice crit on it but without MM it's not worth it. Melee weapons just ain't for us. :) Sucks.
Just saving some eyes from bleeding. Hope I understood it right, 'cause it sure was hard to read through.

The only reason I am okay with this situation is that the hunter should not have won (or rolled on) the axe in the first place. Sure it may have been an upgrade to what he had, but a hunter should never take a one handed weapon over a DWFrost DK or a Rogue. There are way too many hunter two-handers (which are better than using 2 one-handers). I would equate it to a Priest Healer winning a +Hit neck over a Mage just because it was an upgrade for what the priest was currently using.
Just to illustrate:
http://www.wowhead.com/?compare=47329;47266:47266
The two hander is more agility, more stamina, more attack power, more armor pen, more crit, and a socket. A hunter that is dual-wielding is doing himself a disservice, and he's taking away gear that would be actually good and correct for another class.
IMO, the situation originally presented was merely the poster correcting the mistakes of the Loot Master / Loot Rules. If no one else wanted it, then sure the hunter can take it to play around with, but IMO it shouldn't go to a hunter over a rogue or DK that is actually going to swing the thing.
