Hey, I'm new to Shammies and was hoping you could help me with some info.
I'm using the Shammy for PvP mostly and levelling quite nicely through the BGs. At the moment I am level 19, and using some of the BOA gear available (weapon, shoulders and chest).
I've been searching the forums for either an Elemental PvP sec or a hybrid Elemental/Resto spec. I haven't found any thing consistant on any of the forums yet. Was wondering if anybody had any comments or if they could point me to a forum that might help. Take into consideration that I am just questing for the first few levels in a bracket (20 - 25 say) and then spending the rest of the bracket in BGs.

Thanks Canadian, I'll give it a read.
And yeah, I'm trying to structure my levelling like that. maybe a few BGs during the first few levels of a bracket. But being 19 at the moment and in WSG, I know how hard it is to be competitive with 5 out of 10 under level 15. And it's hard to be competitive in battlegrounds when you are a lower level anyway, so I would prefer to go in at around the mid level of the brackets and give it a good shot.

I have found elemental pvp to be quite fun. Being someone whos played enhance as pvp through TBC, and not really taking a shine to healing except on rare occasions, ele pvp has some nice additions.
A well timed thunderstorm can make a difference between kill or be killed. Its great fun for those times when theres a high ledge and someone doesn't think of how bad it could be for them, like the mill in arathi, or in those killing guards on the skybreaker in icecrown.
elemental mastery is a great burst combo with flame shock, maybe a time I've gotten someone trying to run away with that.
Make sure too you ally root effect to your earthbind totem, those extra seconds someones pinned by it makes all the difference.
Anyway this is all that comes later. At this moment I can't honestly say I know of any combo resto/ele in pvp, it seems the greater survival aspect are talents spent in the first few of enhance, and the rest spread around.

Yeah, at such a lower level, I don't have all that much to go with. My play style is pretty much either defense or flag carrier. And given both of these require you to be in close quarters with the enemy or running for your life in WSG, things like Lightning Bolt are pretty much useless. I tend to use the burst and totems most of the time. Earth Shock and Flame Shock are pretty much staple. I throw in warstomp when I can as well.
Earthbind and Searing Totem are my totems of choice. I find it is good working with another Shaman for flag carrying. A trail of earthbind out of their flag room slows them right down - and the heal support is good. For defense, earthbind and searing are key. Kiting them around the room is fun.
But generally we don't seem to have the survivability at the lower levels. Other classes like Paladins and Hunters dominate this bracket and as I said, with so many lower levels in the BGs, its difficult to be competitive.
I am working my way through a possible spec. I'll post it here for comment when I am finished.

At 19 I have the following:

Although the mana save would be good, I'm not too concerned with that at this point in time. I'm looking more for burst damage up close. Given that my survivability isn't great, burst is my friend at the moment.
Eventually I would like to end up with something like this:

Being new to the whole Shammy thing, I am not sure what is good and what isn't. But I think this might give me the whole glass cannon effect but also allow me to be reasonable heal support.
Any thoughts?
