Hey guys, I'm new to the lore forums and I'm not sure if I want to get into RP or not but I would love to learn about Warcraft lore.
I have been playing wow for a while and I dont know squat about lore, When I first started playing Wow it dint mater I was playing for the fun, but after getting into the game I decided I wanted to learn more about lore. The problem is I have no idea where to start. What I would really like is the name of a book or website (Hoping website, I know wow books run for a lot) that would start me off with lore and history of wow.
Mainly I'm looking for a place to start learning about the history/lore of wow.
Pardon me if you are confused about what I'm looking for and feel free to ask me and clarifying question, and if this is in the wrong forum or someone has already asked this or there is a guide please link me to it, and I will delete this.
Thanks,
Gratscot

If you google "warcraft timeline" you will get different sources. Start with Blizzard's, but realize that even they leave alot out of the timeline. Some of the others you look at will give more detail and list more important events and name characters.
Once you're comfortable with the general timeline, I'd recommend reading the War of the Ancients trilogy for a pretty good back story of everything. Then you can move on to some of the other novels, if you're interested.

Thanks, I will check out the above. Looking forward to learning about the game I'v been playing. (Sick of feeling left out in when someone mentions something about wow lore:P)
Its gonna take a while to get up to speed me thinks, lots in info there. Should be fun though.

Yes. Beware of wowwiki. It is deadly. As crazygnome said, you can go there because you had a question about the history of an NPC that gave you a quest and the next thing, you have read about thirty wowwiki pages and the one you are on now (maybe Eastvale Logging Camp or High Priestess MacDonnell) has absolutely nothing to do with why you came to wowwiki to start with.
