It has a huge budget, great writers, a well-known production company (
Legendary Pictures
), and will most likely have the best possible actors portraying the characters. It pretty much can't be bad.
That is actually the recipe they tried with the two transformers movies and you know how that went.
I would actually say big budget big studio and big name actors are the best recipe for a *!@#ty movie.
2 words..
Michael Bay
... okay more than 2 words... why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?
also this

Making a move of wow is only an attempt to make money (what movies aren't) because face it, who playing wow wouldn't go see it? Then there are other gamers who will also go see it since its a move made from a game. The wow haters probably won't go watch the movie, but hey who cares?
I don't have the numbers but do know that its huge, the amount of people playing wow is insane. Honestly I don't have any idea how the movie will play out, good or bad, but from the history of movies and from a lore wise prospective it can't be good (thinking of TLOTR movies, not as good as the books; Eragon, not as good as the book;etc.).
Personally I don't expect to much from it but I will go watch it non the less. I'm not a lore master so yeah, I might find it to be good :D

WARCRAFT: Release Date: 2011 (USA)
Movie Connections: Spin off from WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos.
Movie Synopsis: Thrall will be in the movie. It will be told primarily from the Alliance point of view The time of the movie is set about 1 year before World of Warcraft begins. The film is mainly about cultures in conflict. It won't be an adventure movie like LoTR, more of a war film.

So it's based on
Cycle of Hatred?

Thats pretty much what i am gathering from it. considering that in the intro to Cycle of hatred the "Historians Note" is:
This Novel takes place one year prior to World of Warcraft. It is three years after the invasion by the Burning Legion and their defeat by the combined forces of the Orcs, Humans, and Night Elves(
Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft 3X: The Frozen Throne
).
Although I dont know I mean the book is from the view of the humans but as well as the horde. but Im willing to put a decent amount of money on it that this is the basis for the movie.

LOL.............
I'd give my head in order to find out what is so funny about supposing that one of the most succersful companies in the world isn't full with idiots and that they can do something new right.

IMDb is not a good source of information when it comes to this kind of a movie, but I did find
this site
(warcraft.moviechronicles.com), and it seems to have some good info.
Really? ive never had a single problem with it and anything i have ever heard about that may or has come out, this site has it whether its in pre post or current or even supposed production, its pretty much the mmo-champions of movies, so sorry but ill continue to use a valid movie site. :)

Ok when you were seven years old that film was using the best there was avail at the time... by watching it recently your opinion has been tainted by the rapid change of special effects and CG. There are many movies that were top notch in their day but if we look back on them now we laugh... so moral to this story is don't knock it till it flopsHow do you know he's referring to the CG/effects aspects of the film? He didn't say anything at all about that. It sounds more like he's talking about the actual, you know, plot and dialogue and other things about the film that he realized were terrible and only a child would enjoy.

^^ Agree whole heartedly, i mean look at some of the few new movies to come out based upon lore or comics or games...
Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter were both terrible YES, but i give you a release in April of 2009 that was as equally trashy and terribly scripted and acted as MK and SF...
Dragonball: Evolution. Nuff said, that movie was atrocious, I wouldnt have even used it to wipe my butt...... And the sad part about it is they were "trying" to cater to DB/DBZ/DBGT Fans....
I just have one last thought on the Warcraft movie....
Please oh dear god please dont let it fail like the above mentioned movies....

Warcraft movie:
It will be from the alliance point of view.
There will be a commander of sorts who hates horde.
There will be someone who beleives that horde has some "honor" but has to obey the above commander.
The above commander will engage in an unnecessary battle with the horde.
That unnecessary battle will disrupt an action that is vital for the good-beign of the world.
The vital action will have to be done in another, almost impossible way, a heroic one.
The action will be performed by someone of the horde and someone of the alliance, who distrust the horde (or vice versa), but will change the opinion and in the end will be all friends.
The above commander will somehow be defeated or whatever and will swear revenge to the horde.
Still worth watching, if done properly and without unnecessary emo and too many sexy main characters.

Warcraft movie:
*snip*
You're probably right on the money.
I can tell you with near certainty that I'll have the same problem with this movie as I do with the X-Men franchise - So many good storylines to choose from, and they pick a crappy one to facilitate the introduction of a lot of characters so they can make an easy sequel if it doesn't flop.
Of course, I'll still have to go see it.
And while I like a lot of Sam Raimi's movies, I don't think his sense of humor would work in this case.
My idea: Chuck Norris cameo in a Murloc suit.
