Spec advice for deep Frost PvE

All right, so I've been staring at my mage's fairly unorthodox build that's heavily invested into Frost with some points tossed into Fire because, quite frankly, I've been unable to find anywhere else to stick points that doesn't utterly blow (I.E. I can't reach far enough into Arcane to get anything worthwhile), but I think I've found a possible compromise between the two trees I don't totally hate.
My current, and rather hideous, build looks like this:

My potential new build comes out to this:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#o0xf0zZZVIcIsfuhfzRfst:fwGm0o
Now this is a PvE build, I have little to no interest in PvP on my mage, hence the no Frostbite or Frozen core and the reduced investment in Arctic Winds. Near as I can tell, my conundrum comes down to this:
Is 4% less frost-based damage worth 6% clearcasting, slightly increased survivability from Magic Absorption* and Focus Magic?
*- If the 2/2 MA is moronic and I should just take 5/5 AC and put a little more faith in my healers, feel free to point that out. I just can't help but notice there is worlds of raid-wide damage in WotLK and it's almost all magic damage. That and I run around with Mage Armour up, that's a lot of passive resistance.
Thanks in advance!

Well in a raid type situation, the Frostbolt's snare will not affect the boss though.

True enough, but the snare effect is necessary for Brain Freeze and Fingers of Frost procs, even if the snare itself doesn't take.
