My guild's shadow priest finally got her hit down to about 430 (from close to 500). I'm guessing that's why I can keep up with her on many fights, even though my overall gear level is significantly lower than hers. In other words, find a way to shed 100 points of hit. Please. The hit cap is a hard cap; every point of itemization that takes you past it is like wearing gear with strength or agility on it. And yes, I know hit is rampant on gear in this tier.
Also, we have a nutter on these boards who likes to write long articles. He did one on
shadow priests
(it's linked in the "helpful threads" sticky at the top of the page). Go have at it, lots of good stuff in there.

You are a Shadow Priest. The very best can only pull around 4k on dummies, don't expect to top meters.
I would say your rotation is a little off, I've not raided as an SP, but as an ex-affliction lock, MF should be filler when your other dots aren't needing to be refreshed, or MB isn't available. Don't quote me on that however.

MB and DP are your top priorities to cast first.
fit VE in whenever you can, between cooldowns.
VT > MB > DP > MF > (SW:D) > SW:P.
You need 5 stacks of Shadow weaving before applying SW:P.
Always make sure VT and DP are applied on the boss, if it runs out, recast it.
SW:P you don't have to worry about, it as reapplies itself if you specced into it.
