Community is the key to every online games, especially MMORPG.
You don't have a massive population of people for nothing. ;D

Community never have to be permanent.
My uncle travel all around the world and he usually stay in each destination for around a month to 3 months. He met a lot of people and made friends along the way, and his contact list is just freakin huge. Some people like to move from one community to another, meeting new people on his journey. If i had the money to do it i'd probably do the same but not necessarily as often lol.

Yea, the AH, Guilds, Parties, Friends all make it fun.
Imagine WoW not having Player Interaction. We would have
this.

I believe when Blizzard made wow they kept in mind the importance of social online. I have 6 RL friends who I play with and have loads of people in other country's with who I chat regular. I live on a farm so kind of in the middle of nowhere and without wow I do believe I would have gone mad a looooong time ago.
I sometimes chat with our dogs and cats.....
So yeah thanks wow for keeping me sane :D
