Which class is the best at running instances solo?

Considering the coming release of Cataclysm and the inevitable deluge of new characters (mine included) who will be coming into the picture to redo the redesigned content I wanted to roll up an instance runner for my friends to help them gear up by taking them through instances.
That is a really long sentence.
Anyway, I was leaning towards the Paladin at the moment. I figure the ability to heal, wear plate armor, and consecrate armies of weak mobs (compared to his level 72 self at any rate) should be able to devastate the lower instances easily and quickly while still being able to protect the inevitable "oops walked into the room to far" that my friends will pull.
Any thoughts? Is Paladin a good way to go for this?

aren't Hunters good at soloing instances?

imo, paladin and druids are the best by far.
1st, both can easily pull huge numbers without loosing to much health
2nd, they can taunt of and aoe mobs that's going for the boosted players
3rd, when the boosted players get killed (and they will) you will be able to revive them, so no need for timeconsuming running

Best are Blood DK. Then Feral Druids. Then Paladins.
DK can heal for 120% hp bar over 30 seconds. Cant rezz players.
Feral Druid can only heal 20% hp bar per 30 seconds. Can rezz players.
Paladin can heal for much more, but they are very vulnerable to any mana drain, silence, interrupt (and you cant block/dodge/parry while casting). Can rezz players.
EDIT: This was for lvl60-70 raid soloing (AQ20,ZG,MC,Kara). Now I am reading you want it for low level instance. Then choose druid. AoE Swipe > Everything else.

I'd have to agree that druids are pretty awesome. The only problem I ever run into is with some of the upper level BC dungeons or heroics. They can take the damage quite well, but if healing has to be done, you have to shift out of bear form, which leaves you with much less armor and health. I have died a couple times after shifting out to heal, just because the amount/speed of damage I was taking instantly increased.
Paladins would obviously not have this problem, so I would personally choose them over Druids. Yes, they are very mana dependent, but at 80, most enemy spellcasts will inherently miss at you, so it isn't a massive concern.
But, overall, my top choice would defiantly go to Blood-speced Death Knights. They have just as much armor and health as a Pally or Druid would, plus with Blood Aura on, every single attack heals you. Plus, never forget that they start at level 55, so you will get to farming/running those instances much faster.
Finally, as a sidenote; Have you thought about what professions you want on this character? I highly recommend that you get Enchanting as one. That way, you can turn all those blues and greens you get as drops into a profit-making machine. My mage does a decent job of running BC dungeons, and each one nets about 400g just from AHing the Disenchanting mats. For your other profession, grab mining or herbalism, for maximum profit. Also consider Engineering: its the only way for DKs to have a Rez, even though it may only be a 50% chance or whatever.

At lvl 80, you should be able to solo every TBC instance as a druid. If not, your gears must be weak.

hunter can not compete with a tank, have yet to hear of a hunter being able to solo nexus, uk or any entrance northrend instances.
I would say
Pally or warrior in unhittable set
if the boss only hits for 3k, well you can do the math, you probably wouldn't be damaged by most adds.

Thanks for all the ideas. Since I already have a Paladin up there I think I'll just use them then. DK honestly was never even on my list, for some reason I just don't have fun playing them. I had also thought of a Druid right before I was working on my Paladin but soloing the druid wasn't as fun as the Paladin either. Thanks for the advice ^_^

Hunters work very well with soloing, using a tanking pet and optimally a BM spec (use your dual-spec).

It is more difficult as a hunter, but it can be done.
Issue isn't "Can it be done". The point is what's best. In this particular case, the best is the Paladin.

Druid > Paladin. You can just move throu moves and AoE them. While paladin you have to stop to move to AoE them.
