Why can't Bioware
and
Square Enix both be considered great RPG developers? I'd also like to mention Bethesda, again...
There can only be one.

There is no tutorial.
There are tips, but that's it.

I dig it, but on PC there seems to be a memory leak issue. I have to restart the game once every hour or so or else my 5 second load times stretch exponentially to 5 minute load times. It's an annoyance, but otherwise bearable.
As for the gameplay, I find it a little repetitive at times - sometimes the admittedly well-written and thought out plot can't make up for the seemingly-endless stretch of hack'n'slash that you have to endure to hear it. That being said, I can't say it wasn't money well spent.

Same here only I can play 2-3 hours before it starts happening to me.

thats not a knock its just if you think bioware beats out 1990's squaresoft, you are a kid.
I played FF1-3. I enjoyed them. I moved on.
I played Baldur's Gate 1-2. I enjoyed them. I played them again. And again. And again. As a matter of fact I've been playing Baldur's Gate for 11 years and I still have saves from 11 years ago that I go back to.
If you think a game beats another game for the sole reason it came out 8 years earlier, you're too old to have an opinion about video games.
Has nothing to do about when it came out, it has to do with gameplay. With that said, Baldurs Gate was a great game, but I personally don't think it holds a candle to FF6, FF7 or Chrono Trigger. I also think more people would agree with me than you.
But like others have said, to each their own.
