My rogue is an enchanter so I may be a little biased. Since I really need the dream shards as opposed to the Abyss crystals at the end of heroics this is what I do.
When I join a group I ask if they would like me to DE the blues that drop. If they say yes then it goes something like this... Need if you need, Pass if you don't and I will greed. At the end depending on how many shards I get I request a 1 dreamshard fee. We normally end up with 3-4 and a abyss anyway so nobody minds because I do not roll for the Abyss crystal. I have only once ran into a person that didn't agree but the rest of the group told him to shut up.
If we only get 1-2 dream shards I will roll like any other person. Just be nice and ask the enchanter if they have any rules about the roles but now we don't have to worry about it when 3.3 comes out because of the DE option while rolling.

I personally hope that on the LFD system they give you the option
not
to advertise that you're an enchanter. I don't advertise that I'm an enchanter in pugs because frankly, I would rather take my chance on a greed roll and keep the mats for myself.

I dont have much exp in this subject, But wouldnt a solution be.
"If the Enchanter does not wish for the group to use His/Her the Enchanter has an option to turn "auto-DE" (dont know what else to call it) off."
Woudnt that mean that
A) Pugs cant use your skill unless you agree.
B) IF the enchanter wins the roll they can do what they wish with the item.
Also i don agree that a enchanter has right to ALL the dreed loot Everyone help kill, Everyone gets equal chance.
I read the patch noted but didn't see anything about being able to turn on/off DEing in instances. Is that really true?

From the other Enchanting thread over at Professions:
I don't get it; from the arguments and discussions I've seen one thing, and that's greedy enchanters. I have seen "We don't roll on Frost Lotus and Arctic furs and ore so why do we roll on Abyss Crystals?" which really irked me. Here's why.
Consider the average price of a Frost Lotus being 50g and an Arctic Fur being 100g*.
If you figure that you do 5 of the larger heroics in a row let's say that one Frost Lotus/Arctic Fur drops out of all of them. As an herbalist you have made an average of 10g per run, and as a skinner you have made 20g per run Now, compare that to an enchanter. If you guys win a blue you make 20-30g from the resultant Dream Shard. Again, considering the larger heroics (Nex, Gundrak, OK) and throwing in two smaller ones (DTK, VH), we come out to 21 blues that most people (hopefully) won't need.
You've got a 23% chance to win 4 blues out of all of them, and that alone will be 100-150g. That's not including the epics which drop off every boss, which you have a 20% chance to get at least one out of the five end bosses, which yields an Abyss Crystal. So out of 5 heroics you have made 130-180g, well over twice that of the herbalist and skinner who got their Fur or Lotus.
There is also the fact that you need to consider that a fur or lotus might not even drop in those runs. The instances I mentioned are all filled with skinnable mobs and herbing nodes for the picking, but even then they might not drop the elusive lotus or fur that some of you have talked about. Drops of bosses are always consistent; there will never be a boss that doesn't drop some sort of disenchantable loot.
I'm not trying to offend anyone by saying this, but I'm putting numbers to the arguments that I've seen flying around here. Also before I get flamed I tip you guys nicely for services rendered, so please don't call me a no-tipper or something :).
* Before people accuse me of "making my prices up" as someone did in the previous thread I took all of these prices, including the ones for the Enchanting mats right off of the AH before servers went down.
I didn't see the monetary idea expressed here so I thought I'd throw my two cents in. From a monetary standpoint again, let's throw the cross-realm LFD into the mix doing the same 5 heroics:
Person 1-Bleeding Hollow: Enchanter:
130-180g
Person 2-Shattered Hand: Skinner: 230-280g
Person 3-Kil'Jaeden: Herbalist: 180-230g
Person 4-Altar of Storms: no profession: 130-180g
Person 5-GM Island: Fishing: 130-180g
Total: 750g-800g in Enchanting materials, 1 Arctic Fur, 1 Frost Lotus
These are the values of drops (I am assuming a completely even drop distribution, i.e. each person gets 4 blues and one epic). For the enchanter, nothing will change from LFD because even when the prices of crystals fall the profit of the group will fall proportionately. Person 5 will not continue to make 130-180g while the Enchanter makes 100-150g off his loot; the numbers will fluctuate at the same rate.
TL;DR: The monetary value of what an enchanter gets on average from an instance will not change. If you made 130-180g before, you will get 130-180g after, unless price fluctuations are THAT violent (which I'm rather skeptical about).
