An obvious answer would be Dime, But I'm going to go with Quarter.

Johnny.
There are 3 light-switches in the room you are in, connecting to three lights in a room on the other side of the house (which you can't see from your current position). With just a one-way trip how would you figure out which switches went to which lights?

Leave one off, turn two on. Then turn one off a little while later. Go to the light bulb room. The one on is obviously the one on. Then you feel the two off bulbs, the hot bulb is the one you just turned off. The last one is the one you never touched.

Either the rope isn't tied to any thing or the bail of hay is directly across from whatever he is tied to.
A man heads south to find food. He then heads west, encounters a bear, and then heads directly north again and reaches home. What color was the bear?

It's either a Grizzly or a Polar, depending on how far he travels each time

What same three letters (in the same order), when place in-front and behind this word (at the same time) spell a common English word.

No, the riddle asks for the three letters, so technically underground is not the answer....
As for yours, a really mutated crocodile?
