Try both! Seriously, get dual spec and switch each level and try it out.
I have mostly full BoA items and was having a hard time leveling as BM. So I got dual spec and have been switching back and forth ever since. I also tried out a whole host of pets etc. Here's what I found out worked for me with full heirloom items:
1) From 10-44 I found MM to be better to level with. BM is viable, but you will spend the majority of the time auto shooting and that's it. Aimed shot is just too good. I had lots of issues with pet aggro.
2) Best pet for aggro pre 44 and thunderstomp was the gorilla. After 44 and thunderstomp I picked up a bear and still rocking it.
3) Now that I have steady shot at lvl 50, I'm using that a lot. MM or BM works out great from here on out.
4) For even cons or higher con mob zones I use BM. For anything lower I use MM. Reason is my pet can tank much better as BM so it's easier if the zone out levels you. If you out level the zone MM crits will let you and your pet tear through mobs like butter. As BM my pet can tank many many mobs and its actually hard for him to die.

MM will become not so fun when you accidentally pull more mobs than you can handle and your pet can't hold the aggro. Kiting is not always an option in areas with several mobs.

Well i had the same thoughts on my hunter when i started it.Bm or Mm?
I started after read what all ppl had write that Bm is the best for lvling and i went on from lvl 10 to 40 whit Bm and it worked fine a bit bored cuz of the slow killing.then i tryied Mm just for a test and i was hooked :) High numbers on the screen and really fast killing made my day.About the mana issue i think thats np cuz i just change to viper and auto attack for a few sec.Sometimes it gets all crazy when the pet lose agroo but i like it i run around and shots and its all messy, its the same in hc´s when it gets messy and all seams to go to hell but u sort it out and u feal good about it :) After 60 when i got chimera i was even more in love.Bm is good for ppl that is new to the game or that dosent wanna be so active in the gameing but whit Mm makes each quest a adventure.

I don't think MM will level faster than BM.
As MM, you won't be able to solo group quests and you will pull aggro all the time and be forced to kite the mob, lowering your DPS.
And, in the end, it will be a lot more frustrating than BM. And... I can't personally see a reason why would MM be more fun than BM.
