Except, as an Enchanter, you're given the ability to create the materials you use. A leatherworker can't skin, unless he takes skinning. A blacksmith can't make the bars he needs to create gear. What I'm saying is that most other crafting professions require another profession to gather the materials to make the items. So, you with your disenchanting and your enchanting is like having two for the price of one.
Same with tailoring and first aid. ANYONE can get cloth.
Actually, I just realized what I said. 'Cause it's the same thing as what Blizz will do with Enchanting. Anyone will be able to get Enchanting materials.
As such, more people will be getting enchants, because they're easy to get. Maybe people didn't get enchants before because of low incomes for what ever reason (gearing multiple chars sucks) they might not be able to buy materials. A person who can't buy the mats can't get the enchants. A person who can't get the enchants can't tip. So, more mats for everyone = more enchants for everyone = more tips for you.
So, in the end, everyone wins.
More enchants for everyone, more tips for you.

How does the system work exactly? I assumed that there is simply one more option available to group - now people who want an item for main spec can roll need, those who want it for offspec can roll greed, and enchanter can select DE option if they are willing to DE for their group. If this is about right, I like it. No more waiting to greed and double-checking with people before greeding for DE.

Unlike the OP I never had a problem with DE'ing drops for my groups cause usually at the end of the instance they where coming to me for enchants using the mats the just got. Some would even pay me extra to DE the BoE's they won as well. This change just saves me from always asking at the begining of the run if they want me to Greed for DE reasons.

Sharky3, you should read every post before replying. Ysera already said how it will be profitable for enchanters.
More mats in AH = cheaper mats = more people will buy em to get enchant = more crafting for enchanters = paid more often = profit!

the problem is easily surpassed, i'll keep on greeding on anything i would disenchant as i do now
Greed and DE are now equal options. Greed will not save you from the time-consuming auto-DE (I have an enchanter and have no problem with this).
BTW, I have yet to read a post pointing out that enchanters want mats cheap for them while they level (they all claim enchanting is so expensive to level) but not for those who want mats for an enchant. Many want to eat their cake and have it, too.

This option would be great since I already always get the items, DE them and then we roll on mats in the end. The only problem is atm if group is geared we all get something, but when you DE and roll after each fight/drop then some people might or rather will get more mats then others and some with there awesome luck might get nothing.
Other than that little "problem" I think its a good idea but should only apply to instances

I completely disagree with this change.
MY ability to disenchant should be MY choice. No one else payed the money or took the time to level up MY profession. So why should they be able to dicate how I use my ability?
Is this being applied to mining nodes in an instance? Herb nodes? Do I get the option to prospect my own ore if a JC is in the channel? Can I skin our kills too if a skinner is in the party? This is only a boon to the people that chose professions other than Enchanting.
Enchanting has already been turned into a B**** profession. This will only make matters worse.

@Lebeau: Wrong. If there is no skinner in group, nobody get anything, same for herb and ore. But if there is no enchanter, people would still get something. They would still get the loot and just vendor it. Now when there is an enchanter, it allows to add material to market which people will buy to ask YOU to enchant their stuff and pay YOU for it.

Cheaper mats in AH = less people buy my mats that I've disenchanted which means less profit. I make far more disenchanting and listing the mats than I do touting my services as an enchanter. If I sit in Dal 24/7 perhaps I'd make more, but I like to get out and do things whilst my auctions are earning me money.
That said, whilst I'm not excited about the change, I'll worry about it when it and if affects me.

@ Falwith you are complaining about something entirely different from what is being discussed in the thread.
You are whining about people ninja'ing your vendorable items. I have no problem with everyone greeding an Item if they want to just sell it to a vendor. Good for you. I DO have a problem with being forced to DE your items.

Stupid change by blizzard but one that can be easily avoided seeing as greed still gets a higher priority.
Greed and Disenchanting are treated the same. If someone chooses "Disenchant" and you choose "Greed", They get mats if you lost the roll. There is zero protection for the enchanter.
@Issuldar: False. Disenchanting can hardly be viewed as a second profession. Only a fool would think otherwise. Disenchanting requires the destruction of an item of worth to produce mats for it's profession, you aren't just pulling them out of thin air. If Disenchanting constinuted a "second profession" then so does Smelting, Milling, Propsecting, Tailoring.
I can't believe some of you greedy bastards >:(

I have too agree with Issuldar. There have been too many times were no one has needed an item as an upgrade and the enchanter automatically feels that they should get it because of their profession. What they fail too realize is that item can provide me with gold too level my skills just as it gives them mats too level theirs. If they don't want too DE it then fine, but quite complaining about if no one else needs it then you should get it. You have the right too DE it if you want, I have the right too sell it if I want.
