your spec doesnt really matter...a shadow priest can heal fine up to lvl 50 or so, as long as you have some gear for it. You can always just spend around 10 in holy, and go the rest shadow. This will let you quest and get into instance groups when you want to.

You know, what I'd really do if I was you would be to try to concentrate on one class and getting that up somewhat. From your 3-day post history here you seem to level a lock, tank, hunter, pally, druid, priest and ... probably something more.
While it's admirable and a good idea to take several classes to level 20+ to see what they're like you really should try to limit yourself somewhat. It's going to get you into a state of "altalitis" like so many before you have suffered from before. This is a not-so-rare condition that leads to multiple level 30-50s and no lvl 70s.
I usually always have one or two chars that I level on the side, but I also have a couple of 70s to back them up. It really makes the leveling process that much easier.
For your question here however, put your first 5 points in spirit tap, get +spirit or +stam/spirit gear and follow the shadow path for leveling. You won't need a single point in holy to do fine as a healer at least untill BRD, then after you get to Outland you'll do fine as a shadowhealer untill you get to the point where you want to start the harder 70 dungeons or even heroics, which can be a bit tricky without very good healing gear. Which is the key btw, try to gather up a healing set to use for healing instances.
+heal, +int, +mp5, +spi.

You cant really spell either. Stop playing WoW and GET BACK TO SCHOOL!!!
LOL
but in all serriousness, he should be a grouper. if hes nine, groupings the easiest way to learn to play his toon. talk to guildys about it and get their help. all i can really tell you is that it makes me incredibly angry when i find kids who dont know how to play, but yet it makes me roflmao when i find a 7yr old who can out tank my mainstay tank and knows more about mitigation than i do (did all the number crunching for my tankadin friend lol)

...there may be like 10 prodigies out there that are actually good and know how to play, but a majority of kids are kids.
if you dont teach them, how will they learn?
i understand that kids are kids, but it IS a game.

What would be the point of being a 70 and not knowing how to play your part in a raid?
Questing teaches you one thing (all be it, i love questing and it makes things go so much faster) and thats how to solo.
In end game, its all about how well you work as a team.
and to be quite honest, their is a massive difference in soloing and grouping.
instancing: teaches teamwork and people skills, two things most people lack.
idk, up to him about how he goes about learning his toon i guess.

Tbh m8 i think you should do alot of grouping. Imo it lets you learn the game and your class faster and will also allow you to make freinds easier in game which you can then use as a resource for help and a.
I rspect you for coming on a site like this coz when i started wow i had no idea sites like this even existed let alone went on them... my last bit of advice for you is dont lvl up being completely ignorrant of other ppl playing the game. It is a social game let it be social.
good luck :)

Questing:
Greater XP/hour, rewards reputation, you learn to live with getting ganked or overwhelmed by mobs.
Instancing:
You learn how to play your class in a group, and you learn necessary social skills. Do be prepared to be whined at when things go wrong though!
Conclusion:
Do them both. Personally I like to quest, and then do some instances to break it up a bit, and test out my new skills. You're not restricted to either path. You don't *have* to heal in instances.
Oh, and as jordieboy96 says, instances are pretty much a dream world. Doing a trash pull will give you three levels of experience and also everyone will probably pay you loads of respect even if something does go wrong.
