I got a 72 hour ban back in October because I lagged horribly on a FP and they called me on speedhacking. Really does make you wonder if it's for @#$%s and giggles. -_-
bullsh!t

God, why does everyone have to be dumb as hell and rude to boot?
It's apparent that Blizzard can do whatever they feel like if it seems like something is a smidge off since everything remotely thinkable is covered in the rules. All this post was meant to do was show one of those instances. I'm not saying what I did was right or wrong, I'm trying to show you to watch out with what you do because if it's out of character for you they will nail you on the spot.
I guess I gave some of you too much credit to figure that out by yourselves.

because your lying, botted/bought gold. and now your denying it, trying to save face.
blizzard does not randomly ban people permanently for being a 'smidge off'

Guys chill out, mistakes can happen. It is very possible he did nothing wrong and they just made a mistake by thinking his activity was suspicious and banned him, you shouldn't be all rude....
If you are telling the truth, I do feel bad for you because that just plain out sucks.

If blizz ever banned me I'd take that proudly. It would finally give me a reason to leave the scene and enjoy outdoor life again lol or even better get laid more often...

Update:
I recieved an e-mail saying they needed to validate my account with a fax of my State ID and a character information form. Just to make sure it was legit I sent a message directly to an account mentioned on Blizzard and they said it was so now the wait begins for them to review the fax and let me know.

I'm not sure why this is such a revelation to you. Blizzard can ban you for any reason (or no reason) because you gave them the right to do so when you agreed to the ToU and EULA.

No idea what is going on, but Blizzard is a business and would really suffer if they went around wantonly closing accounts. I do not know what the truth is but if I were in your shoes I would follow through with Blizzard and try to get to the bottom of why they feel your account should have been banned. It could have been an oversight, outright error or completely justified, but I know Blizzard wants your $15 bucks a month so alienating a player is not something they are likely to do without what they believe to be a serious infraction or violation of the ToS.
Hope it gets worked out for you...I have given/sent guildies hundreds of gold for epics and whatnot and have never seen any sort of warning or account flag...man you could have gotten like 6.5-9g for that bag...
I do believe you meant to use the "" =P

blizzard is currently in a state where more people joining is costing them money, rather than gaining.

Sorry for the hijack, just curious... How is more people joining costing them money? I mean, I understand they use the money we pay to maintain servers, develop patches, develop expansions and pay their employees (probably some other things I haven't thought of), but with the amount they gain minus these costs, they still should have a considerable profit. Right?

Mass business can never drive profits down.
Actually, Blizzard had a difficult time when WoW was launched. They underestimated the initial popularity of the game, and thousands of players were limited to a few realms, causing consistent lag. That created bad press for them, which in turn deterred some people from buying the game initially. It's rumored that they stopped shipping new copies of the game for a few weeks in order to get realm hardware up to par. While they didn't actually lose money, their profits would have been larger if they had foreseen and prepared for this.
