I want to wipe on the Lich King

The Lich King is an iconic villain of Warcraft. He's been around since Warcraft 3, but his story goes back even farther than that, all the way back to the Legion's corruption of the Orcs on Draenor. The Legion's plan for the Orcs failed, resulting in the creation of the Lich King, who created the Scourge and used it to destroy Lordaeron, Azjol-Nerub, and Quel'thalas.
The big guy on the throne has been named one of the best villains of all time by various 'top 100 villains' lists. He has t-shirts. He has mugs. His sword has been made into a
collectible
. He is the the reason for the destruction of Lordaeron and death of some of it's greatest heroes- and that was before he ever gained his current power.
He killed Uther in one on one combat, one-shotted Saurfang Jr., sliced up Illidan, and he made Yogg-Saron his ^&*!@. He effortlessly crushed the kingdom of Quel'thalas, and basically kicked the asses of anyone else who stood in his way.
With the release of WotLK, we come face to face with the Lich King -- and
survive
. On multiple occasions. He simply lets us go, or leaves us to his servants. We've thrown a monkey wrench into his plans for world domination, and pushed into his own backyard of Icecrown.
And he never stopped us
. Why? He could have done it. Easily. I know many players consider themselves the 1337est of the 1337 because they have epics coming out of their every orifice and can do '9.5k DPS amg", but if you went one on one with Arthas, you would lose.
Period
.
The Lich King was once an unknown entity that players expected to be running away from every time we saw him, but instead, the opposite is nearly true. Every single time we've come across the Lich King, we've escaped completely unscathed.
When Icecrown Citadel is released, we'll finally be at the end of the journey. We'll finally be able to fight Arthas and his most powerful minions. And we will win. We always do. But as many players have noticed (and complained about), WotLK is a LOT easier than the previous two games. It's possible to pug Naxx. You can pug VoA. You can pug Malygos. Hell, I've even seen a video where a 25-man raid pugged Jaraxxus.
I dont want that anymore. I dont want to be let by my hand into the loot-fests we've had so far. Malygos was a freakin'
Aspect
, and he went down faster than a fat kid slipping on a greased floor. It was ridiculous. My guild isnt a top-notch "look at us, server first we're awesome" guild. We havent even beaten Anub'arak yet. Or Algalon. My guild barely made it to Kael'thas before Sunwell was released. We're by no means a pro guild. In WotLK though... the fun was over. I enjoyed the Burning Crusade instances. They had a challenge to them that WotLK lacks. We
earned
our epics back then. We grinded and grinded, wiped again and again, until we had it right and could do it every time. It felt great the first time we downed Kael, but every boss in WotLK so far has lacked the epic feeling that comes with weeks of work on a boss than has curbstomped all 25 of you without breaking a sweat.
When ICC comes out, I want to wipe. I want to be curbstomped. I want those rotting zombies to beat the hell out of me and throw my shredded carcass aside. But more than that, when we finally get past all the lesser bosses, I want to wipe on Arthas.
I want to go into the room where Arthas is waiting and say "This is it..." then promptly get bulldozed. I want to go into that room ten times. Twenty times. A HUNDRED times. I want to die again and again until I'm screaming in frustration and throwing my keyboard against the wall. Arthas deserves that. He deserves to be the hardcore boss that we've been lacking this entire expansion.
Let the elitists get their world first and their bragging rights, I dont care. They would kill him before we could anyway. I just want to be challenged again. I want to earn my epics. I want that feeling back when we finally put our collective boot on Arthas' neck and say "Dude, you just got owned."
Blizz says they want all players, casual and otherwise to be able to fight Arthas. That's fine. I'm cool with that. But it doesnt mean we have to beat him.

Hard mode: Elitist/Hardcore
Regular mode: Casuals
k?
Everyone should be able to experience endgame content and possibly beat it.

Fighting the Lich King won't be much different than fighting Illidan.. I'll guarantee that we'll fight alongside one or more pivotal characters, just as Maiev showed up to help. If that's the case then I have no beef with how easy or hard it will be because in the end it's just a story and it can end however they see fit.

People are forgetting that the things you do in-game actually have no effect on how Blizzard writes their story.
Still. The way I see it is like this:
Easy mode (10-man normal) - should be as hard as any other heroic in the game. I know it's aimed at the casual guys, but the Lich King is the ultimate villain (after Sargeras I guess), and if you wanna beat him, you should still have to put in a few weeks worth of time and effort. No matter how casual you may be, you hit 80 even though you have a wife and kids, so you can spend a bit of time preparing for the Lich King.
As for 25-man heroic - as far as I'm concerned, The Ashen Verdict, Thrall, Saurfang, Sylvanas, Anasterian and the best 25 players on the realm could be there and it should still take 3 hours to drop him. Of course, when he does get dropped, all the loot will be legendary items and well worth the months of gearing up, recruiting and wiping that it took to get there.
I know Blizz aren't gonna make it that intense, but damn it'd be good if they did.

I fully agree. Arthas shouldn't even be a 10 man imo, only 25. Hell, i'd make him a 40 man only if i could but i don't think Blizzard would do that. If Arthas is a 10 man, i want him to be brutally hard. 25 man, near impossible.
Just my 2c.

Will this help?
Please note that as soon as you walk in the Icecrown Citadel an aura will remove 1% of your health every 3 sec.
Currently on the ptr for the first boss test.
A constant health drain just for being in the instance kinda tells me they're taking this seriously.

Damage just for being IN Icecrown Citadel...that's crazy. Group heals are going to be well loved here.
