From the latest
3.3 PTR patch notes
...
Decimation: Redesigned. When Shadowbolt, Incinerate or Soul Fire hit a target that is at or below 35% health, the cast time of Soul Fire is reduced by 30/60% for 8 seconds. Soul Fires cast under the effect of Decimation cost no shards.
So once the boss hits 35% it's SF spamming FTW!
Not only will this change make FG/Ember much easier to play, it may even raise it's damage potential back up to near the deep specs.

Also
Demonic Pact: This talent now also increases the warlock's spell damage by 1/2/3/4/5%.
This is FANTASTIC. Nuff said

yeah, i've mentioned on other recent threads that my current "main" spec is demo so these changes do look great. i just meant that blizz have acknowledged (several times... and by "blizz" i mean GC) that demo is trailing and that the DP buff shouldn't be a reason to allow it to be behind. presumably this is their offer for a boost to demo and i'm not sure it's
quite
enough. i look forward to seeing more details and theorycraft on it though.

I'm looking forward to finding out how the changes in Decimation will effect the weaving (or lack of.) I'm wondering if it would be more effective to straight up SF spam with only one SB to reapply ISB or space out the weaving with a set number of SF's and then set number of SB's in order to proc molten core.

you would be running CoA and corruption to proc MC and if you're lucky you'll have a mage or aff lock along for the ISB debuff.
...what i'm also interested in is if the discussed glyph for corruption to obey haste mechanics will be a good thing for affliction locks.
For 3.3 we are talking about introducing three new glyphs for Shadow Word: Pain, Corruption and Rejuvenation that would allow these spells to tick faster with the more haste you have

Improved Felhunter
: This talent now also reduces the cooldown on the felhunter's
Shadow Bite
ability by 2/4 seconds.
Shadow Bite
: This pet ability now provides 15% increased damage for each of the warlock’s damage-over-time effects on the target.
Interesting. Perhaps these buffs will make the felhunter preferable over the succubus for Affliction raiding (as it was intended to be).

Well faster ticks won't affect the DPCT of Corruption, so it'll still be a better cast than a SB.
It'll just mean casting Corruption more often and slightly fewer SBs, should be a small DPS increase.

...Am I missing something with everlasting affliction? It'd just be a flat out dps increase, no? You only ever cast it once per fight...

No, it would be a direct dpct increase. Since you only cast it once and never again as affliction during a fight, the duration of the spell can be seen as the duration of the fight (say, 1 minute). The glyph does nothing to change the duration in practice for affliction due to everlasting affliction, so the spell will tick x% more times in that one minute than it would without it, thus directly increasing the damage per cast time of the spell. Granted, this only applies to affliction warlocks - other specs that have to constantly reapply corruption because they have no means to refresh the duration will indeed see no increase in dpct.
IE if corruption were to do 100 damage over that one minute fight (for math's sake) before the glyph, and you have enough haste to make it tick every 2 seconds instead of every 3 seconds, you would see 33% more ticks, and 133 damage over that one minute if you glyphed for it since reapplication is not a factor. That's a dpct increase.

You're absolutely right, for deep aff builds (probably the only ones that this will affect) this is a pure DPS increase with no downside.
However, the faster tick effect will be triggered by a glyph, it remains to be seen if this will be enough of a DPS increase to justify taking that glyph over one of the standard aff ones.

well i see the CoA glyph as an easy one to replace. it's always been a weak one.
also, i wonder how much haste you would need to start having issues with refreshing corruption with haunt.
at the minute haunt has an 8 seond cooldown and 12 second duration. corruption has an 18 second duration so there should never be a problem. 700haste from gear, then eradication proc and
then
a heroism proc as corruption gets refreshed... will we actually end end having corruption drop off before haunt hits it's target?

simcraft makes it look like the proposed 3.3 buffs are perfectly well balanced. GG blizz... now go and work on affliction ^^
3/13/55 = 10015
0/13/58 = 9992
0/56/15 = 9988
...
53/0/18 = 9390

(the haste glyph might do it for aff but it's not applied yet. we'll see)
