I would be extremely sad if they were removed. I do think that the IF airport and the Shatterspear Village will be serving a purpose though. But the other little places like the Dwarf farm in Arathi, the abandoned lumber operation in stonetalon, and all the other little hidden gems... I can't help but think they'll be getting the boot.
But as far as quitting... nah.

supposedly the troll dancing village between darkshore and moonglade is going to be a questing area since the nightelves moved further north and the cataclysm opened up the area. I would actually perfer to see most of those area's serve a purpose.

Yeah the Shatterspears are finally being added into WoW at large, as for the others... invisible walls anyone?

The airfield is more than likely where you'll be picking up flying mounts for dwarves and gnomes.
Which, if that turns out to be true, makes me wonder how far in advance Cataclysm was planned >.>

If I remember right, all the cataclysm world is open to everyone, and cities will likely become no-fly zones, much like Dalaran is.

Blizz stated that the are revamping some of the cities like undercity to make them flight friendly.

The airfield above IF was placed there as the original Flight Path for the predesigned Ironforge. Back when WoW was still in Alpha or Beta test Ironforge looked totally differant but it was changed to what we now see before it went live.

Ah, wasn't actually aware of that.
Still, I think it would make an ideal place to pick up some flying mounts. I mean, it's already there anyway right?

Yes. No. Maybe.
I hope there's some secret pie factory...

They're not going to remove anything like that. They'll be fixing places so that they don't look unfinished but from a development point of view it would be a waste of resources to remove places (IF Airport, Southern Silithus Tauren Town, ect.) just because they would be "explorable."
