A Discussion of Frostmourne

As we all know, when Frostmourne is used to kill someone, it steals their souls. So here is my question, what happens to the people's souls? Does the Lich King reanimate them to serve him? Are the souls conscious? Can they "see"? Do they understand what's happened to them? Can they ever be resurrected? Are they forever trapped within the blade?
Thoughts?

I thought they stole the souls and empowered the Lich King/Arthas as a Death Knight. That's why he made sure he was getting the killing blows for the massive exp on all the other heroes heh.

It depends on the Lich King himself. In the vast majority of cases, resurrected beings are mindless slaves of the necromancers who raised them, and indirectly - the Lich King. There are some cases - death knights - where the Lich King allows part of the subject's soul to reside in the body; it's only twisted. That's how we get servants of the Scourge with memories of their past lives, with emotions (mostly anger and hatred, rarely - sadness), and desires (
Vereth
hints for his affection towards
Sapph
, at the end of
The Rider of Frost
). The souls of those people have been modified though - which was the case with Alexandros Mograine, by the way. After magical manipulation and physical torture, the future servants of the Lich King are nurtured into hatred and anger, as well as disdain towards their old values - namely love, virtue, morals, honor.
And then there is the last kind of undead - the ones who serve against their will. A couple examples that come to mind are Sylvanas and sir Zeliek. Sylvanas was allowed to keep 100% of her own consciousness, thoughts, feelings, and even the ability to speak (most of the time) whatever is on her mind. Her incorporeal body was 100% under the control of Arthas though. And of course, we all know about Zeliek, who is probably even a better example - his mind, including his ability to speak and express his morality are his own, but his body is controlled by Kel'Thuzad.

I hate posting in threads, I am such a geek...
There is nothing that kills discussions better than a detailed explanation :( And providing only partial explanation, leaving you guys to figure the rest out seems too much like patronizing to me :[

Heh, who's complaining? There's like 15+ frostmourne discussions all across this board, I prefer a nice summed up answer.

Here I was thinking that the absorbed souls increased his power.
