....Yeah as he's sinking then he suddenly drives upward to keep fighting. I don't buy it Rank.
Who said anything about it happening on the cinematic? It could just as easily happen at the end of the Broken Shore zone. Do recall that they said this zone would "shock us". So its entirely possible a few major characters are gonna bite it in there.

I just don't think it's going to stick.

Good point there.
The dead have this stubborn habit of not STAYING dead in this franchise. Arthas lampshaded it during Frozen Throne with his immortal line: "Does nobody stay dead anymore?"

That has never been more true now that Illidin is back. And the fact we're basically visiting WoW Nordic afterlife prompts sighs of meh on my part.

Personally, I hope that whoever dies, stays dead. It cheapens the story WAY TOO MUCH when death is just a slap on the wrist. This to me was the main downfall of Dragon Ball for me. I used to worship that show, but gradually the menace of the villains decayed at an exponential rate, as the protagonists kept getting killed and kept coming back. And the villains kept getting killed and kept coming back.
Already the most blatant example was that Sylvanas has already died THREE times, and she still keeps coming back. So whoever dies in Legion, they better stay dead, otherwise whatever attempt at drama will be lost automatically.

Well they are planning something with Sylvanas, that much is apparent. Though I am kind of dreading what finding warcraft Valhalla might mean here. Solves the Forsaken's whole issue with being a people corpses? Who knows...

I still don't think he's dead.

Personally, I think it'd be massively unfair if he dies and comes back. Cairne died, and stayed dead.
Magni only got turned to stone, and apparently, HE gets to come back in legion. His NPC has been datamined, and his name was in the ashbringer preview during Gamescon. The horde just keeps losing main characters left and right, its about time the alliance starts losing some people too, and that
they stay dead
.

I think part of the problem is that Blizzard knows the Alliance lacks likable leaders.
I mean, who wouldn't be cheering if Malfurion or Varian bit it?
They're saving those deaths for the "win back the crowd" moments, like when they killed Garrosh.

I wouldn't; but then again, Varian has been getting better over the years. That's why I think it's just an assumed thing and not really going to happen...kinda like how when he was missing; after all, most of Legion is just throw backs, so may as well go back to the days of the Missing Diplomat.

I don't think it would be the first time a character gets their story fleshed out, only to be killed shortly after.
General Nazgrim rings a bell?
Post by
Behelich
Didn't Nazgrim appear way back in WotLK, and then in Cata, too, and in both cases with a chunk of characterization?
But the point is moot; sadly, it's a known trick, to make us emotionally invested in the death.
As for the spoilers, well, doesn't matter, really. It's Warcraft. As was pointed out, no one stays dead. If the team thinks it's 'cool' and 'awesome' for someone to return from the grave, or if the vocal minority of the subscriptioners b!tches loud enough, return they will.

Difference is, Nazgrim wasn't a faction leader.

Also Rank, Lavaman, bolvar returns. And his horde counterpart is still dead and a raidboss in ICC.
Then there is Tyralion and Alleria. Those might be neutral class hall followers, alliance, or one joins horde, the other the alliance.

Seriously don't see either of them joining the Horde. If they did go elsewhere than the Alliance, it would probably be the Argent Crusade.

I'd rather have a blood elf Alleria than Veressa 2.0
Also it would be cool to have Alleria as ranger general of silvermoon. And a Windrunner in playable race, forwarding the story of a playable race.
And some amusing drama.

Cairne was. And when he died, he stayed dead.
As far as faction leaders go, the alliance has had a pretty sweet ride, as their leaders have more or less remained immaculate, with the sole exception of Magni who was turned to stone, and even that isn't gonna last forever.
On the horde however, we've never had a real goblin leader, since Gallywix has been pretty much absent in the game, and other than 2 cameos in short stories, also absent from the lore as a whole. So that's goblins without a leader. We are currently without an orc leader, as Garrosh is dead, Thrall stepped down, and currently, neither in the loading screens, nor in the game, nor in the lore do we have an actual official leader. So that's Orcs also without a leader. Trolls currently have Vol'jin who is slated to go missing for god only knows how long, and since he has no immediate successor, this means Trolls are also without a leader. Taurens already lost Cairne, and while Baine is his successor, this doesn't changes the fact that we actually lost someone, permanently. The only two races of the horde who still have had intact leadership are the forsaken and blood elves.
Alliance on the other hand, still has the night elven leaders intact, draenei leader intact, worgen leader intact, gnome leader intact, 1 dwarf leader on a temporal leave, but even then, his daugher, brother, grandson, and distant cousin all stepped up to replace him, and he's slated to come back anyways. And Human leader currently intact, and even if something happens to him, he has a successor ready.
Would it be really that unfair for the alliance to lose ONE of their leadership? Because we've lost 60% of ours. I don't think its exactly fair that the alliance can keep being the immaculate, how about rubbing some mud on their faces for a change?

Kael'thas Sunstrider was the leader of the blood elves. Then he bit the dust.

I don't count him because back then, the blood elves were still alliance. So Kael'thas never really fought for the horde, thus the horde never "lost him" as a leader.
