Also, Sylvanas saved Varian's life.
Sylvanas prolonged Varian's Life.
Sylvanas prevented the death of Varian. (AKA: the second man who wants her dead the most)
Sylvanas rescued Varian from his demise.......
Nope, no matter how I phrase it, it still sounds weird O_o
Well, In my opinion it might be a new tactic king of the chin is trying, rather than invade and try to reclaim Lordaeron (andorhal, southshore vs tarren mill etc) He tried some diplomacy. And poof, new ally.
The forsaken are a bit like the geth in a way. And humans the quarians.
But mostly I believe there will be a book to give context too this cinematic and the Gul'dan/Illidan one. Like shattering or war crimes.

I'm a little perplexed by some of the choices for artifact weapons.
Doomhammer and Ashbringer are pretty much the only weapons with any pre-existing lore. All the others are new.
And here's what I find perplexing: A lot of them are from races that don't have much (if at all) to do with the class in question.
For all the griping about the Doomhammer being a poor choice for elemental shamans, I find that a tol'vir weapon for windwalker monks is an even weirder choice, as was a NAGA weapon for resto shamans.
Also, my condolences for BM hunters. They really got the short end of the stick with what has to be the fugliest weapon ever conceived.

So we just got a Q&A from Blizz regarding Legion, and they had some very interesting reveals.
1. Bolvar is getting a cameo. (Not sure whether or not to be thrilled or abhorred.)
2. Old God presence confirmed to be a part of the story. (Duh, the Nightmare. I wouldn't be surprised if Xavius plays as both a servant of the Legion and N'Zoth)
3.They hinted at alternate heroes, which sucks because we're still doing alternate word nonsense :/
4. We get to find out what is under Tirisfal!
5. Is anyone else annoyed by the Fel Lords? There supposed to be really rare, really powerful demonic upgrades to the Fel Guard, but now it seems we'll be killing one in every pack of demons we meet.
6. Just thought of this; Sylvanas is probably going to be very interested in the Val'kyr, and I wonder if Bolvar's cameo will play into it all.
7. I'm not sure if we'll wrap up the Burning Legion in this expansion, but I'd be willing to bet that KJ will be getting the axe for sure.
I'll go back to lurking now...

Yeah except it doesn't matter, apparently. They're demons so go back to the nether and get revived regardless, since the Archimonde we kill in Warlords is our Archimonde.

Sweet jesus :S see? this is why I really hate what warlords has done to our beloved canon.
Not only it befouled it with all this AU!heroes crap, it also made it so that all demons in all timelines are one and the same, and are fused together across all continuities.
So I guess we have a velen, and an AU!Velen, but if there was a timeline in which Velen actually accepted Sargeras' gift, and became a demon, then all the velens, across all the timelines would fuse with this Demon!velen to become one?

I'm sure it will be retconned. We only have this thing really because of that post on twitter or whatever it was. I don't expect it to last.
Also, it seems that demons can't time travel or do AU's anyway, so yeah.

Doomhammer and Ashbringer are pretty much the only weapons with any pre-existing lore. All the others are new.
Don't forget Felo'melorn, the sunstrider blade! And scythe of Elune, mother of worgens.
I think it has to do with that they can't have all the monk weapons be all panda. Too transparent that monks are all pandas. So they created a wind fist for wind monks. Guess they gotta practice wind palm?
Though the night elf water of eternity mace for resto is just weird. It's nelf priest/arcane water. But I guess they went with water = healing, magic water = super healing. A naga trident would make more sense IMHO.
Also, my condolences for BM hunters. They really got the short end of the stick with what has to be the fugliest weapon ever conceived. Not only is it ugly, but what does a titan gun have to do with pets? And to spray salt into the wound, hunters get some ugly tauren hut for class hall. *sigh* I would have prefered some elven lodge, like ancient order of elite highborne rangers.
Also a retcon for the wretched. The nightborne have a version of them, "withered" they are created from not feeding on magic. The current lore has that wretched are from overdose. But it looks like they are going back to the original version. That is good, makes the arcane addiction, serious, has a point.
Is any more sets other than rogue/lock out yet? Cuz I hope that my hunter (and my mage) gets nightborne armor (elven rangers, best marksman). But I should know better and get used to having random animal skull for headpiece and it's ugly fur for armor.

Good point on the scythe of elune, but Felo'melorn had never been mentioned before Legion was announced. Ditto for say...... the staff of aegwynn.
Out of all the 36 artifacts, only 4 total had any pre-existing lore prior to the announcement of Legion.
Doomhammer, Ashbringer, Scythe of Elune, and Scepter of Sargeras. And even then, of those 4, only two of them pre-date wow itself (The Doomhammer and the Scepter)
I was kinda hoping that Affliction locks would get the truncheon of Teron Gorefiend =(

Pretty sure the name ‘Felo'melorn’ was tossed around somewhere in the middle of Arthas’ butchering of Quel'Thalas, in an RPG sourcebook and in the Golden novel, I think?
EDIT: and, technically, since KJ created the Lich King and his Nathrezim crafted the runeblade Frostmourne, its shards count as well.

So really, thinking of the next expansion, which does seem to it pointing more and more that it's going to end up being Great Sea type thing with the return of Azshara and N'Zoth...I'm actually hoping they save Zul the new Zandalari King till the point, since as far as I'm aware, he's not in the boss files for the Thunder King's palace.
Cause even though Zandalar island was destroyed, I have a feeling that more Zandalari survived then it seems, and that after the Cataclysm, they still wouldn't put all the eggs in one basket; more then likely there is still a new Zandalar island out there, and Zul and his forces are just waiting for the Pandaria strike force to link up again with the Mogu before making their move.
Will be interesting.
And of course, seeing the return of Kul Tiras next expansion too, just because the game needs Proudmoore somewhere in it.
Reading back through General discussion...I was wrong :P /phew

It does sound familiar. Also, trollbane's greatsword hardly seems random or irellivant.
o_O Trollbane's sword is an artifact? how the hell did I miss THAT?

It's not the trollbane sword "trol'kalar" that arms will be getting, it's the sword of Thoradin, a over glorified thug who left his sword in "the thing beneath tirisfal".
I hope that means, void is responsible for old gods. Like fleshfiends from titans or something.
I hope void isn't purely a priest thing now. I liked it when it was more of a warlock thing. When I see void casters I looks to me more like warlocks than twilight hammer.

I'm pretty sure that I called that the Old Gods were behind everything, including demons and Sargeras. I'll have to go look for that post now.
EDIT: Turns out, I called several things, which were scorned. For example, I called Y'Shaarj's return, Archimonde's return, the Legion invasion coming before the Old Gods, and Gul'dan's return. (I thought he would be a death knight, but still, totally counts.) I'm still waiting on Ryun'eh to be the fifth Old God, and on the Hour of Twilight.

There was a connection between the void and old gods in Highmaul. This just seems to be them picking up those threads and elaborating on them.
Although I'm interested to see this connection explored more, the nature of it could lead to some interesting implications for existing lore.
The most boring (and honestly most likely) is that the old gods use the void as a power source.
However, in some ways, that fails to explain how using the same power source causes shadow priests to take on aspects of the old gods, you don't see Paladin's and holy preists turning into naaru. You could argue by simply sharing the same power source as the old gods invites their corruptive influences upon yourself.
But that fails to explain the old god free shadow priests we've had and that exist in current lore.
Another possibility is that the old gods are one with the void, which makes the whole void light cycle of the naaru very interesting. The void gods, naaru and voidwalkers aligning with the legion was already a bit of a mess, throw old gods in the mix too and that is something i don't want to think about too long.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this. But it's fun to think about.
Another interesting tidbit, is that all the DK artifacts originate from the legion.

Another interesting tidbit, is that all the DK artifacts originate from the legion.
This makes sense to me, because the legion were the creators of undeath in the first place.
Yep, Frostmourne was forged by the legion. The armor in which the lich king was entrapped came from the legion. The powers of undeath given to Ner'zhul came from the legion.
When we (DKs that is) began, we were apprentices in the arts of undeath. We learned from other death knights and necromancers and honed our skills, striving to be as good as the ultimate Death Knight (AKA: Arthas himself). But eventually we surpassed our teachers, and so we began to emulate the lich king himself and behold, now we have pretty much all of his moves (Soul Reaper, Remorseless Winter, Necrotic Plague, Defile, and I'm guessing on legion we may get the remaining 3 powers (Pain and Suffering, Infest, and Harvest Soul).
So now that we've gotten all that we could from the top Death Knight there ever was, where would we get more power? Why of course from the people who created the Lich King.
How much different this is from Fel magic is another question for another time. (There seems to be an awful lot of variety when it comes to shadow magic. There's void magic, fel magic, necromantic magic, rune magic, and ALL of it is considered shadow. You just don't see this diversity with the light, or any of the other magic schools for that matter)

Why get lich kings spellbook when you an get BOOOOONESTOOOORM!
(There seems to be an awful lot of variety when it comes to shadow magic. There's void magic, fel magic, necromantic magic, rune magic, and ALL of it is considered shadow)
In general, there are two kinds of shadow. Priest and warlock. The priest shadow is more of twilight hammer and arakkoa. Whilst warlock shadow is more cult of the damned and shadowmoon.
One of them is due to dark devotion. the other for powerhunger/dark magic. Though just as there is nothing to stop a human from summoning a voidwalker, there is nothing stopping a faceless or demon from doing the same.
It's just wierd that priests get to metamorph into a void thing, when the only two that has done that before, (high astromancer in the eye, Darkwhisper from shadowmoon clan in council HFC) have both worn warlock gear, and been mroe foa power hungry type than a worship fellow.

huh, beta began, and already some interesting stuff surfaced.
For starters, we're gonna be having some companions depending on our class. Death Knights will be getting Darion, Thassarian and Koltira for example.
But there's a few highlights among these companions.
Rogues in particular get two unexpected ones. Vanessa Vancleef, and Lilian Voss. I knew Lilian wasn't dead ;)
Vanessa though? Totally didn't see that coming.
Warlocks will team up with the wife (or sister? I'm not sure) of Wilfred Fizzlebang, for a second crack at
JARAXXUS, EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!!!!!!!
Time to see if this second member of the Fizzlebang family is just another trifling gnome, whose arrogance will be her undoing =D
Liandrin and Aponi will also be the companions for paladins. Time to dust off my old pally.
Sad that Saurfang wont be a companion for warriors, but I can understand why. The game would basically play itself if we had him traveling next to us.
