To be honest, after a bit more research it does seems like it was a fake. Nobody else in any other wow fansite has talked about it.
This would mean that for the first time ever, the next expansion will feature absolutely ZERO leaks of any kind.
A lot was leaked for Cataclysm (Mixed with some false info)
The name of Mists of Pandaria was leaked at least half a year prior to the announcement.
And the name of Warlords of Draenor was leaked a month prior to the announcement.
But here we are, 12 hours before the announcement of the next expansion and still nothing. Just speculation, lots and lots of fake and unconfirmed "leaks" and nothing concrete like trademarked names or anything.

The recent Warlords patch was probably a good smoke screen. Announcement has been rather quick compared to the other expansions.

Well, it might be eye of ashzara or something else blizzard trademarked long ago. They did say they planed warlords of draenor when mist of pandaria launched, so they might have copyrighted it a lot sooner than they normally do. Thus making the lack of anything now make every speculator add leak into the title for credibility.

Well, I think it's very safe to say that this is taking place in our own Azeroth. (By the Light, it better be.)
If it is in our own world, that blows my theory that Azeroth would be ravaged while we were away. It seems that AU! Gul'dan has come to our world and has opened portals into the Nether for the Legion. (Ironically, it's the place where he originally died.)
As to how Illidan is still alive/resurrected, I do not know. But it may have something to do with the Val'kyr and their powers of resurrection. Interestingly, I had always presumed the Val'kyr to be a type of special undead, but now we see that they have an origin of some kind?
Also it looks like N'Zoth has his tentacles in events once more, with Xavius' survival and the return of the Emerald Nightmare.
Final Boss: Illidan, Kil'Jaedan or Sargeras? Perhaps someone new?
I'm also calling this now: Gul'dan will be killed off pretty early on.

I can not belive they returned Illidan just for us to hunt and slay him. Neither can I belive that Maiev is not going to be a part of it.
Also, Aleria and Tyralion...
Will I have all 3 windrunners in my order garrison? (Hopefully I will have a bow, not a gun or spear)THANKS BLIZZARD FOR RELEASING THAT HERO CLASS I'VE BEEN WANTING FOR YEARS AFTER I QUIT
RETURN! RETURN YOUR WRETCHED SOUL TO BLIZZARD...
Mhahahaha.
They will be waiting...Sorry adamsm but it seems that your other "favorite"

Adams, do you hate Sylvanas and Maeiv? If you hate them enough, they might return. It would bring joy to this one whose favorites came in the frozen throne.

Regarding Illidan, the official site of the expansion sheds some light about him (but doesn't explain a few other things)
Apparently Maiev brought his corpse (Which if I remember correctly was beheaded) to the Vault of the Wardens so he could serve the rest of his sentence in death. The rest of the Illidari, along with all those demon hunter trainees we saw in shadowmoon were brought too to be imprisoned for eternity.
This is the official excerpt from the site:
After the fall of the Black Temple, the corpse of the lord of Outland, Illidan Stormrage, disappeared. No one knows the true fate of Illidan's remains, but legend holds that Warden Maiev Shadowsong took his broken body to the Vault of the Wardens so that Illidan's dark, lingering soul could suffer the rest of his eternal sentence—along with his followers, the feared Illidari. Justice to be forever served…
The new Demon Hunter players will start there, though the exact circumstances for how Illidan revives are not revealed yet. Chances are Gul'dan is the one who springs him up to life since the Cinematic CGI teaser has him discovering the body of Illidan encased in an icy prison.
Well, I think it's very safe to say that this is taking place in our own Azeroth. (By the Light, it better be.)
Considering that they mention the vault of the wardens containing Illidan and his illidari followers (Which were only brought there after the end of Burning Crusade) then yeah, this is not AU azeroth, since in AU Azeroth they're still in pre-WC1 era at the moment.
If it is in our own world, that blows my theory that Azeroth would be ravaged while we were away.
Actually this still sort of happens.
kinda.
There's this bit from the official thread made by perculia:
Broken Shore Experience: Wake up to the world on fire
It seems that AU! Gul'dan has come to our world and has opened portals into the Nether for the Legion. (Ironically, it's the place where he originally died.)
Yeah, the irony is not lost in me either. If you fail once, just bring your alternate self from another timeline and try again!

I can not belive they returned Illidan just for us to hunt and slay him.
Its a little earlier to say we will kill him. I mean Demon Hunter players do begin working for him. Though time will tell if he pulls a lich king on us and just betrays us for no darned reason like the Lich King did on the scarlet enclave (it still bugs me, he had NOTHING to gain and everything to lose by betraying his most elite fighting force at light's hope chapel)
Neither can I belive that Maiev is not going to be a part of it.
She is. The official website lists her as a major character. Here's her excerpt of a biography:
If the Watchers are infamous among the night elves, Maiev Shadowsong is a legend. Famed for her uncanny ability to capture any enemy, Maiev tracked Illidan Stormrage, the Betrayer, all the way to the Black Temple in Outland. After his demise, she imprisoned his surviving followers, the Illidari, vowing never to allow the fel-touched demon hunters to roam free ever again.
Time will tell if she's on our side or not. Last time we saw her she was a little........ crazy. And murderous. But mostly crazy.
Also, Aleria and Tyralion...

Maiev and Sylvanas are confirmed to be major players in this expansion as each of them has a new bio on the official website.
Sylvanas in particular has a new model (that covers more of her body. I guess she learned that wandering around half-naked when most of the world hates you is not a bright idea)
Here's her official bio on the new site:
The Forsaken's ruthless leader is a formidable champion of her people. But with the Burning Legion's invasion, the stakes for the Dark Lady have never been higher. Should Sylvanas perish, her demise will be the beginning of her eternal damnation. All that stand between her and this doom are her Val'kyr, yet few of these spirit guardians remain. As her fate edges closer to the abyss, Sylvanas must decide how far she'll go to protect her people… and whether they're more precious to her than her soul.

Anyone wanting to kill Malfurion is okay in my book.
Also looks like my MM hunter is going to use Sylvanas bow, a windrunner heirloom.

There's an important thing they haven't addressed yet. Where's Wrathion? his entire questline in MoP was about preparing for the upcoming legion invasion. Well, here they are. Where's he? what's his plan now?

More armor? Awesome. New armor that doesn't match her current set at all and clashes like crazy? WTF Blizz?

And after watching a bit of the stream, I've gotten the first good lore news in a long long time. Ooohhh god this is like music to my ears.
Jaina........ is no longer the leader of the Kirin Tor. As some of you may have noticed, Dalaran is featured prominently on both the map of the new continent and the new trailer. And will be serving as the capital hub of the expansion for both factions. They now shed some light about that, saying that she was overruled by the rest of the Council of Six, of which Kadghar now leads. Which in turn made Jaina (Who still has her revenge obsession against the horde) leave in a hissy fit.
Ohhh joy =D I do love to see her suffer. I hope we get to see that in the game or in the inevitable tie-in novel. More importantly, now that she's left the kirin tor, angry and feeling betrayed again, I sincerely hope she plans her revenge, goes Kael'thas on us, and we can finally kill her off.
A man can dream :P
Also a question for you guys, because feedback works two-ways. Last time during the pre-launch hype of MoP, we received a few mild complaints that there were too many spoilers in the General Lore thread. Granted, for the most part they were under spoiler tags, but they had the disadvantage that those who wished to avoid being spoiled just had to steer clear of the General Lore Thread, lest some surprise be ruined for them.
What do you guys feel about leaving all discussion about the lore, and about events that have yet to happen in the game to a separate thread and only discuss in the General Lore Thread stuff that is mostly common knowledge by now?
Just a question, I wanna gauge the reactions of most of the majority of the Lore&RP community.

I smell redemption arc for Sylvanas. Which is weird because I can literally see no way for that to work, so it might end in another Grommash thing.
And eh. I guess we could. But really the spoiler tags should be enough, but if you were really getting complaints I guess we could open a new thread.

Oh god...
New Demon Hunter class! I've had so many cool ideas for that that they might ruin. But it could be so cool!
But another Burning Legion xpac is kinda lame actually. Kinda burnt out on the Burning Legion.
But Turalyon and Alleria are almost certainly coming back.
But Artifact weapons seems kinda dumb, imo. How the heck are we gonna get he Doomhammer or whatever, and are we just gonna stick it back in the bank then when we get an upgrade? Or are we just gonna use it forever and never get anything better? What happened when hundreds of people are running around with the Doomhammer? Is it really that cool anymore? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The designs look kinda cool at least.
But hey! We'll also "get glimpses into the Emerald Dream."
Class Orders are the new Garrisons, which you lead, which also seems dumb. I'm sure they'll put some cool lore characters in the order halls, but why not just have them lead the Order? Could still be neat, I guess.
I didn't actually play at all during WoD, but once I have my own gaming rig and some extra cash, I might buy back into Blizzard shell game again, just to see what the new xpac is all about. This one, at the very least, looks like it would have a lot more impact on Azeroth, instead of being a huge waste of time... >_> (Looking at you AU Draenor!)

nah its not a problem, just a few very mild tidbits. If nobody else in the Lore&RP community has a problem discussing spoilers in the General Lore Thread we can continue to do so.
:)
