Since they STILL don't have their city back, the major operation meant to retake it failed miserably and they have mostly dropped off of the global radar.
None of these scream "successful government" to me.
New starting zone quests clean things up, and Mekkatorque killed Thermaplugg as of his short story. They are on their ways; and the people of Gnomer still voted for Mekkatorque to continue to be the High Tinker: His people love him.
Also....nah, gonna leave out the example towards current world governments.

You can make the examples if you want. I'll be the first to admit that America has
huge
flaws in its electoral and legislative system.

True, but love isn't everything. They've been going about things far slower than the other kingdoms have, as well.
*I'd like to point out that I don't condone dictatorship in any way, shape or form (in the real world). However, in fantasy worlds, monarchies or other such governmental systems are generally a lot more efficient, safe and powerful than democracies.

Unless you have people like Cersei or Joffrey running things =P. But compared to the other kingdoms, the Gnomes have seemed to have it easier when it came to calling for arms, the standard running and Thermaplugg aside, don't seem to have as much of an usurper vibe that everyone else has had.

Well, Westeros doesn't count. You're screwed no matter where you go.

Westeros
This place?
And monarchy is not the best either. Azshara can prove that.

I heard an interesting point today. There is very little Scourge presence in the Storm Peaks, despite it being right next door to Icecrown. Did Arthas know that Yogg-Saron was emerging from Ulduar? Did he fear the Old God?

More likely, Yogg-Saron just killed all the scourge there. The Lich King probably decided to wait until the Crusade, Alliance and Horde were finished before he moved on to Yogg-Saron since only a fool would fight on more frontiers than needed.

There's also the part where the Storm Peaks are teeming with Titan activity everywhere, there's titan constructs, fortresses, world engines, and whole armies of Iron/Stone constructs galore. Its too heavily fortified to crack.
Just look at the failed attempt to invade Scholazar Basin, they barely made a dent and a single Titan Watcher (Freya) held them back with a little help. Now imagine Storm Peaks, where there were multiple Titan Watchers.
These watchers were later corrupted by the old gods but they still remained a threat to the scourge, and unlike conventional armies, the lich king's biggest tactical advantage was null here. The scourge relies on aggressive zerg tactics because they know they can replenish their dead with the slain enemy troops, and as long as their own fallen forces don't take too much damage they can be reanimated (See the blood princes)
This is completely null against an army of iron and stone. None of those are made of flesh and thus are immune to necromancy. Having the Alliance and Horde on the doorstep, as well as the argent crusade, it would had been stupid of the lich king to try to tackle the titan watchers, old god corruption or not.

No, he just had other things to deal with that were more important then a location where the local races were fighting back heavily. The big blue frost women actively went to kill the one Scourge location. The Titan engines had many active defenders. Far easier to take over the areas around the Peaks then just squash them at a later point.

After running through Ulduar again, I noticed the starry Tauren in one of the chambers. And I got curious and looked around but couldn't seem to find anything on it. I find it weird that a Titan facility has Tauren star models dottet around, since as far I know the Tauren naturally evolved on Azeroth and is not seeded by the Titans. So does anyone know if this has been explained somewhere?

The Keepers may have been in contact with the Titans or a messenger of the Titans, so they kept watch over all of Azeroth, noting things like the Tauren and the Quillboar. The Keepers may have just updated their scenery with the new races.

Well, I just had an interesting thought.
Blood Knights for the longest time had to steal their powers from a Naaru before they earned them the proper way, but I imagine they still have the ability to siphon magic off another being if they so wanted.
Here's the hicup, is that practice outlawed? would they be reprimanded if they did it? What if say...... a blood knight faces a Scarlet Crusade paladin in combat, and after defeating him, decides to suck out all their holy magic away to become stronger?
