Knaak screws my mind.

And I didn't even read him.I really think Adams is wrong on this one... :\
I'm looking all through Wowpedia, and I don't see anything even resembling that. I mean, I own the War of the Ancients trilogy (even if I never read it, blech), so I'll happily admit defeat if I can get a page number or something, but I've never heard that story before.

Yes, Rem, Zae and the other three sons are the actual children Cenarius, but the idea of the entire race of both the Keepers and the Dryads all coming from Cenarius seems a little out there. And it was in the first few chapters that Malfurion and Cenarius was introduced; Mal sees eyes watching him, and Cenarius tells him to ignore them, as they were those who failed to learn the Druid skills, and I think they had a description of one, a form similar to Cenarius', with the equine lower half.

*cough*Equine means "horse."*cough*
Well, I'll check, but Wowpedia had nothing to say about that hypothesis, so I wouldn't present that as fact without a solid source.

And progeny doesn't necessary mean direct children. I mean, Cenarius and his sons had thousands of years to procreate.

It says that some of them were "changed" to the point that the were no longer elves but "woodland guardians," but that doesn't necessarily mean Keepers of the Grove.
It' also possible that Knaak was talking out of his ass, and there are a lot of other things that Knaak has suggested or introduced that never made it into any of the other Warcraft materials (like the fact that no half-elves had been born, or the liquid metal sword, and so on...)
Have to go to PT, but I'll have more to say after.

Might have broad stroked it too much, but it would make some sense that not all of them are direct children of the actual Demi-God and his 'real' children. And I call of the ones with the Cenarius/Son model Keepers, even if they aren't heh.

New(?) question: Why didn't the orcs re-settle Nagrand?
Post-BC there really isn't anything "wrong" with Outland, it's obviously able to sustain life, and Nagrand is both huge and a much nicer place to live than Durotar. Terrokar Forest is right next door for lumber, and with Illidan and Co. defeated the only people to fight for dominance would be the Ogres, who would fold like a cheap suit against the Horde war machine.

There are draenei there as well. The Telaar faction make their home there, as do a city of Mag'har orcs. I don't think the Mag'har would appreciate a group of green skinned orcs moving in (granted I don't know how they think).

Because Durotar is the penance for what happened to Draenor....well, according to the Shattering. But you'd really think there would be those who don't agree with the new look of the capitol city heading out to Nagrand.

The Mag'har seemed happy enough to welcome Thrall, and pretty much any Horde-aligned adventurers who came through. And they sure weren't shy about leaning on the Horde for help against the Ogres. And again....Nagrand is pretty big, and lush, and rather comfy looking. It ranks with Terrokar as "places on a supposedly-shattered world that look nicer than most parts of Azeroth".
I'd expected to see at least some kind of Horde colony there, or perhaps an expansion of the Mag'har village.

Current Warchief is also a Mag'hari......so....yeah heh.

The thing is, the spiritual savior of the orcs and a string of mercenaries is very different than a fullblown colony.

There is that.

Honestly, I kinda assumed that the Mag'har were part of the Horde now.

They are, similar to how the Kurenai are part of the Alliance.

Some Mag'har went through the Dark Portal after the Burning Crusade with Garrosh and Dranosh.

So...I guess this just falls under the umbrella of "stuff that should have been updated in Outland, but wasn't, because it's not part of Cataclysm". :)

Pretty much.

they are.
both the horde and the alliance have a large number of non-playable races that have joined.
I'll list only the ones I can think of te top of my head.
Horde:
Mag'har orcs.
Dragonmaw orcs.
Taunka.
Stonemaul Ogres.
Part of the Dreadmaul Ogres (as of the shattering).
Part of the Dunemaul Ogres.
(formerly) goblins (and I say formerly because they used to be non-playable, as of december 7th this will change)
mok'nathal orcs (orc+ogre)
Forest Trolls (revantusk village ones)
Dark Trolls (shatterspear trolls)
Undead Elves. (dark rangers)
Alliance. (I'm less knoledgeable of the alliance than I'd like, so this list may be more incomplete)
Wildhammer Dwarf
part of the Dark Iron Dwarves (as of cataclysm)
Frostborn Dwarf
Broken Draenei.
and the Highborn Night elves.
Half-elves.
High-elves.
all of the above mentioned races are fully-fledged members of the Horde and alliance respectively, and none of them are playable in any way shape or form. But despite not being playable, they ARE members of their faction.
