How Cata Will Help RolePlaying.
Good read. I personally can't wait for Cataclysm to try out the new RP servers that will undoubtedly come.
Oh and I thought that
Garrosh isn't a spark in a powderkeg. He's a lit match, doused in lighter fluid, tossed into a powderkeg wrapped in fireworks.
Was rather funny. /shrug

Hey, I keep hearing that Varian was the deciding vote on whether or not to intern the orcs...
Where's the source for this? As far as I know, we don't even know if he voted at all, much less if he voted for them, much less if he was the deciding vote...

Hmm... seeing as the internment was aobut 8 years after the orcs' invasion, I see him as a little too young to vote (speculation though).

It was Beyond the Dark Portal; a group of the leaders are out looking over the camps that they had; Trollbane and Graymane wanted to kill them, Terenas, Varian, Proudmoore and someone else voted the other way, saying they didn't need to do so.

That someone else... would be from Dalaran I suppose.

Don't remember the exact page, but probably in the first quarter of the book.

Yeah, thats where I remember someone saying he found Varian supporting the internment idea, but I thought he was confused with the idea of building Neatherguard. Where in Beyond the Dark Portal did you hear this?
It's in the novel near the beginning.
(Thanks for reminding me Adams.)

I'm going to look now...
If I can't find it, can someone give me a page number?
Edit: Yeah, I'm only seeing Greymane, Trollbane, Varian and Terenas inspecting Nethergarde, not the camps.

Are you sure it wasn't Greymane and Proudmoore? Antonidas would have been the 'someone else', too. ;)

Strange as it is, Proudmoore agreed with the camps, for all he wanted to wipe out the Horde in the founding of Durotar. I don't know, I just remember a section where they are speaking and Varian get's the upper hand on Graymane.

That's in Nethergarde, and it's about the expense of Nethergarde, not the camps.
Immediately after Nethergarde, the portal opens again, orcs come through, and everyone freaks out because orcs are coming through.
Nowhere have I found them even talking about the camps.

/shrug, I'm not sure then; but we know Graymane and Trollbane left the Grand Alliance because they wanted to wipe out the Orcs and Terenas and others disagreed. With Lothar dead, it would have fallen to Varian to make the vote for Stormwind/Azeroth(what it used to be call remember).

But what I want to know is: Was it a formal vote, or was it just argued about for a bit? Which way did Varian vote? Was it the deciding vote?
Here's what the Warcraft 2: BTDP manual says:
For long months the forces of the Alliance worked to seek out the renegade Orcs that had gone into hiding after the fall of the Dark Portal. The Blackrock, Dragonmaw, and Black Tooth Grin clans were captured by the Alliance and herded into guarded reserves and prison camps. While the leaders of the Alliance argued over what was to be done with them, Orgrim Doomhammer, the Warchief of the Horde, was placed under arrest and kept as an honored prisoner under the care of King Terenas of Lordaeron. Some members of the Alliance pleaded that the Orcs should be exterminated like animals, while others opted for a sentence of life imprisonment.
Having discussed the obvious benefits of a treaty with Doomhammer, King Terenas fervently hoped that the Orcs could be kept pacified long enough to eventually lose their lust for conquest. Thoras Trollbane of Stromgarde and Genn Greymane of Gilneas both disagreed vehemently with Terenas, resolving that the Orcs were too great a threat to leave alive. After months of debate and frustration, both leaders withdrew the support of their nations from the Alliance. Azeroth alone stood fast in its commitment to the Alliance. Even with the dynamic young Varien Wrynn seated upon Azeroth’s throne, the distance between the kingdoms of Azeroth and Lordaeron made their union a hollow one.
Oh, and by the way, I took some pictures!

Bahaha, you dork! xD Totally cheered me up lmao. /highfive.
Uh oh, but now Im posting in a general lore thread. I feel compelled to post something general about lore. Hm.. oh! I wish there was more lore on mounts and pets! Like the celestial steed.. wtf is it, where did it come from and why does everyone have it? These kind of things bug me even though I'm not on an RP realm :P
There, now I don't feel so useless. ^_^

But what I want to know is: Was it a formal vote, or was it just argued about for a bit? Which way did Varian vote? Was it the deciding vote?I doubt it was the deciding one, as Azeroth/Stormwind didn't create any camps in southern Eastern Kingdoms, but if it was a majority rule thing, it would have mattered. Thinking on it, if they had an actual vote for it....probably Gilneas, Stromguarde, Silvermoon against, Dalaran, Lordaeron, Azeroth, Kul Tiras(as it says they were willing to follow what Lordaeron did for the orcs) for, Alterac abstaining(as there king had been exiled). But of course, could be completely wrong.
Like the celestial steed.. wtf is it, where did it come from and why does everyone have it?The great Creator gods decided to give them to us heh?

aight question: What is troll architecture like, i mean like there buildings and such, are they made of wooden poles and animal skins or what?
Post by
Adamsm
Depends on the tribe; Forest are the wood and thatched like roofs, Jungle has the stone like buildings, the Island trolls have the wood and stretched skins or canvas like materials, Frost/Ice has the stone buildings as well, and the Dark live under the ground(or so it seems).
