The Gilneans didn't
want
to deal with the burden of the outside world anymore, hence the creation of the Greymane Wall.
The reason behind why nobody bothered to make contact with Gilneas isn't explained in the lore or anything, it's generally accepted that when someone tells you to *!@# off, you leave them alone.
Especially when, at the time, they were the strongest army
. Gilneas telling you to #$%^ off is akin to the US telling you to @#$% off.
You might not want to $%^& them off more than they already are.
As far as I knew, they were just one of the strongest armies.Aye, Gilneas had the power, but they were equal in size to Lordaeron, the High Elves(when they got off their butts and did things((sorry couldn't resist)) ), and Kul Tiras; the smallest group was the Stromguardians, but they made up for their skill at fighting in the mountains and the like; seeing as they were the group that clashed most often with the trolls of Amani, next to the High Elves, they had developed the same techniques of striking from above and the higher ground; don't forget, on their own, the Trollbane forces routed most of the Horde guards and the traitors of Alterac. But the biggest reason the Gilneaians were allowed to leave was simple; they more or less said, Screw you guys, we're going home after learning they were suppose to keep paying for the orcs in the camps, when it would have been much simpler just to kill them all off.
Those humans don't need their own leaders to fight the Forsaken, the Alliance will fight the entire Horde and retaking Lordaeron is certainly in the agenda of most allies.
Heh, aye, but I admit, I like the human kings/princes/nobles...
So, you would like an expanded human aristocracy?
Heh, well, that's more or less what the original Grand Alliance was; the Seven Kingdoms, with the addition of the High Elves and the Ironforge and Wildhammer Dwarves. I'd like to see some of the older history coming back.
I meant even further. More lords and ladies from the kingdoms actually weighing in politics, instead of Kings stealing all of the spotlight. The only nation that seemed to be this way was Quel'thalas, and that is considering the Convocation of Silvermoon.Heh, right, and hopefully no Council of Nobles this time... or at least, ones without the backing of a Black Dragon.

So, War of the Ancients raid incoming...
At first I was like "Aww, man... I don't want to do a raid based on those lame-ass books..." but then I realized "Hey, maybe we'll be going in to ^&*!ing fix the timeline! :D"
I'm all in favour of going back in time to kick Rhonin and co. out of the War.

Eh, I'm hoping for combo of the two; get to fight alongside the Furbolgs, the Tauren and the Earthen, but leave out Rhonin, Krasus, and emo-king and his twin. Don't put us into the main fight, just have us fighting alongside the army.

I can't imagine what could possibly be worthy the Infinite's attention outside of the main campaign though.
Trying to kill the army itself to keep them from winning?

Heh, I just don't want to be part of the heroes section of the war for once.

Doesn't seem like them. They've yet to show any massive force, their much more like assassins then a military.

PvE is all about being in the Hero Section anyways. The most vital roles of recent lore campaigns were played by Adventurers.
Unless it was about the final kill, then that was all the Lore figure. But I mean, Escape from Durnholde; we're just the faceless mass helping Thrall escape, Dark Portal; we were the faceless masses holding back the infinites, Hyjal...alright Hyjal was just for fun, and of course COT: CoS; we're the killers for that pansy.
I'd like to have a dungeon where we are the 'heroes' or at least, slightly more important then people we're suppose to be protecting, which is why I'd like to be part of the army fighting against the Demons during the WotA.

A). Caverns of Time is for nostalgia and lore purposes. The whole point is so that we can go back an participate in these legendary events that have already happened. We're not there to rewrite them.
B). It's much easier for the Bronze Dragons to send us back for a minor role in protecting a hero and letting them do the hero things than it is for them to send us back to be heroes and then try to sort out the details and set things right for the present and future.

Btw, I Chromie am a male dragon
wrong bro'
chromie is a girl, the only indicator that chromie "could" be a guy was the dragon form in caverns of time, where her name was "chronormu" as oposed to the standard "ormi" that is used on female dragons.
however this was a simple mistake on behalf of blizzard, an oversight if you wanna see it that way. How can I know this? because it's been fixed, just run CoT today and u'll see that when you defeat mal'ganis, Chromie comes in her dragon form, and it is named now "Chromie" instead of that male name.
if blizzard bothered to change the name, it's clear that the gender of chromie wasn't meant to be male, or else they would had left the "ormu" in the name.
why change it? unless it was a mistake of course. (Like when they gave her a female goblin voice, only because one of her lines was "time is money friend" ,they later fixed that mistake and gave her a proper female gnome voice)

This might be a weird question, but before the first war and orcs, what were the main threats for humans ( Near Stormwind, near Stormgarde and around Lordaeron ), high elves and dwarves?

Trolls and bandits I'd say, along with the occasional demon. Humans, elves and dwarves were on pretty good terms.

That's what I was wonderin' about, was there some kind of a "Black pit" where a bunch of demons... "lived" or were they scattered so people told stories of how that place was haunted and a single demon was runnin' around there?

The demons found ways to Azeroth from the twisting Nether, but they were very rare and scattered, yes. But because they were so dangerous they fell under the juristiction of the Guardian of Tirisfal.
