Still should've been Tirion. He could use the Light to purge the Scourge he commands then. =DAnd the Lifebinder's flame couldn't? :p
If Alexzastra herself was doing it, yeah. But I don't think those powers translated to Bolvar, otherwise he should have had no trouble escaping the Lich King's grasp. At least, I wouldn't think so.

Huh; reading through the Alliance and Horde Compendium for the RPG books, finding information for a certain project, and came across this for the Tauren:Domestic life in the Tauren tribe has not changed much. The Tauren are fiercely dedicated to family life, since they cannot afford to neglects the family unit. Their populations are too low; one of their main goals -- now that they are not looking over their shoulders every instant for a centaur attack -- is to build their population back up. Each family unit is encouraged to raise as many children as it can. Obviously, this limits the number of female Tauren in the warriors' ranks, but many females choose a spiritual path, as they see themselves connected to the Earth Mother. Makes sense then why we don't see many female Tauren out in the wild heh, there too busy being brood mares.

Not really forced; merely that the more children a family has, the better off it is for Tauren society.

Hm, and another good bit of information here about the Trolls:
Another, more difficult, change the jungle trolls have to make is in their own social climate. The trolls like in a society permeated with rituals and rites of passage, some rather vicious. Traditionally, the shamans forced initiations of all troll children into the tribe. When a troll child turned six years old, she was taken into a remote area of the woods and left there. If she made it back, she was considered one of the tribe.
Other rites of passage included suitors battling to the death for the object of their affection(either gender would do this), fights with blunt weapons during a marriage ceremony to establish dominance in the marriage, and having a young troll battle an older warrior to give the older troll an honourable death in battle.
The practice of culling the weak gave the trolls very strong warriors, of course, but left no room for compassion within the society. The orcs and tauren have been working with the shamans of the Darkspear tribe to rectify these barbaric practices, to some success. Some traditions remain, however, even if the trolls claim to the Horde that they do not
Wish WoW had more of this built into the game heh.

Well, there are few prominent female Trolls, because in the traditional Troll society - females are deemed inferior and there to mate, cook and clean.
I thought I'd pop that in there, while you're talking of baby-making machines. >_<
Also, I saw that bit of info about the Trolls. I knew I was right ages ago, when we were arguing about Troll children being left in the jungle as a rite of passage!

Old information from before BC but heh....
The Horde distrust the Blood Elves, as their addiction to magic makes the High Elves look like amateurs. The Blood Elves are dangerous and the Horde races can smell the rotten magic on them. In particular, the Orcs revile the Blood Elves because they see them as descending down the same path towards damnation that so corrupted the Orcish people -- the Orcs can smell the demon taint on the Blood Elves and know how badly it will twist them. The Blood Elves disdain the Horde as barbarians who refuse to grasp the power in front of them. They especially dislike the Orcs, who should have been strong enough to control the power the demons gave them instead of falling under their command.
Alright, even with Sylvanas... how the hell did the Blood Elves get into the Horde? I mean really.....

Well.. Thrall does say : "Your people suffered a great betrayal by the Alliance. You've succeeded in fending off Darnassian attacks as well as spies from Ironforge. Now you've defeated a powerful Scourge leader at the footsteps of your home. Your worthiness is no longer in question.
It is now apparent that you need us and we need you. Return to Lor'themar. Tell him I received his message loud and clear." Heh and people complain about the Draenei retcon... but still, how they go from pure hatred on both sides to that....
Also, reading the Furbolg section of the book... sounds like the start of a good friendship with the Draenei on Azuremyst, hope we get to see more of them as Cata comes.
After generations of peaceful existence on Kalimdor, the furbolgs have found an almost warlike passion concerning the Scourge. Formerly slow to anger, they now consider the Scourge to be their ultimate racial enemy and will attack any Scourge they see on sight. The Scourge was behind the destruction of much of their race, and the furbolgs vow revenge. They mourn their maddened brethren, and they are sickened by the fact that sick furbolgs still haunt the forests. Some warriors charge themselves with the tragic task of finding and destroying the feral furbolgs, lest they damage the forest or any travelers. These mad ones are no longer considered part of the Furbolg clan and the warriors feel great sorrow at the task of freeing them from the prisons of their maddened minds. Often a shaman will travel with the warriors to give a final spiritual passage to the feral furbolgs.

Forced breeding? Damn.
What? Like we don't do it on cows all the time...
Though remember, it's merely a suggestion. It's not like Cairnes strutting around watching couples screw for the sake of his race, and murdering them if they don't.

hey guys, I just had this question show up in my mind.
what's thrall's last name? does he even have a last name?
thanks to greatmother geya we knew that his true name was Go'el, and we already knew that his father's name was Durotan, his mother was Draka. but I can't recall ever hearing their last names.
=/ how unfortunate that they don't have a proper lastname.
is there any portion of lore I missed that says if thrall's familiy ever had a last name? because not even thrall's grandmother Geya ever mentions her last name or anything.
PD: (I've been away from the forums lately :P my baby just got trough a bad fever U_U but thank god she's all better now, had us quite scared though :S)

Thrall, son of Durotan, Chieften of the Frostwolves; that's his 'last' name heh. Most of the orcs with last names gained them after doing something big or it's named after a physical feature/ability/ancient weapon.
Glad your kid is alright.

really
good diplomat when she needs to be, apparently... :P
She's managed to coerce a Dreadlord to her side (through violence, admittedly), team up with Garithos, join the Horde, get the Horde signed off on the Blight, get the Blood Elves in, skirt all responsibility for the Wrathgate, get Krick to tell her about Frostmourne, and still get up to fight Arthas.
