L2 Spell pen. If you can't reliably pull fears off without having CoE up, you need to grab a few
gems
. CoE should only be used because you want the damage bonus; not because you are bad at gemming.

Inappropriate language removed. Circumventing the profanity filter is not okay. —MasterOfDisguise
Against mages in RPM or Mage/Priest you
Must
use CoE because of the insane amount of shadow resistance that they have (210 if im not wrong)
Using Off-Hand and Wand with spell penetration will give you around 102 spell penetration (67+35= 102) plus +35 spell penetration from the back enchant so you dont have to use spell penetration gems to reach the "cap" which is 130.
In your build I'd suggest remove the points from Improved CoA to Improved Life Tap.

First off, the suggested amount of spell pen is 140 (Mage Armor + Mage Talents = 140 Resist). You end up 3 points short of that number, but it doesn't really matter.
Second off, saying "must" is just silly. Any Mage worth anything will dispel CoE the second it is applied. Any mage worth his salt will have Decursive and decurse it off of his partners as well. Relying on CoE for arena play is downright silly.

I wasn't talking to the OP. I was talking to the kiddies who are insisting on using CoE VS targets with shadow resistance. That is just stupid, relying on a dispellable curse to do the job that proper PvP gemming would do.
If I were forced to run WLD as Affliction, I would definitely be using CoA. Affliction is NOT about burst, its about sustained DPS dropping your enemies mana pools over time. CoA would just put alot more pressure onto an enemy healer, having to expend more mana to keep health pools up.

I never said CoE was bad. I said using CoE for the purpose of lowering resistances is silly if you are stacking enough Spell pen (be it from Gems, Offhand+Wand or Cloak Enchant). CoE is a kickass curse, I use it every day. However, I don't count on it to prevent my spells from getting resistance; thats what spell pen was for.
In fact, if you had read my post you would see that I am SUPPORTING what you said. So instead of just pouncing on what I said, you could have read my post.
