Brilliant, you get gear for
NOT
playing the game!

Why do you want the epics? Why do you want to "remain competitive"?
Is it so you can justify your $15 a month with shiny purples? I sure hope not, that's rather shallow.
Is it so you can flex your epeen in front of freshly-dinged 80's and go "Look at how long I've been playing this game"? Better not be.
Is it so you can go into Icecrown Citadel the instant it comes out along with all those friends of yours who worked hard to get their epics? Oh, but you don't have the time to do progression raiding in Icecrown anyway. You have a life, after all.
So tell me. Why?

You can get the best gear. It just takes a bit longer.
And honestly, getting full badge gear doesn't take that long.... I do maybe 1 heroic a day, and I would say my gear is 'competitive'. There are even a lot of days I DON'T do Heroics.
It isn't that hard to get good gear.
Now, if you want raid gear, that's another matter- but why do you need to get gear that is needed for content you will not have the time to do?

So it's entirely impossible to be competitive in WoW and have other commitments outside of WoW?
So far your stance in this approach is that your can't sustain a normal life if you play 5+ hours a day.
I believe I just earned a Feat of Strength achievement.
I raid literally over 20+ hours per week, wipe for endless hours working on Hard-Modes, and earn my gear through tough challenges. That sure is commitment right there, but then I also go to school, have a job, and spend time with my family and friends. That's an achievement right there for the people who play in Real Life.

Isn't getting Ulduar25 gear from Emblems of Conquest enough?
