I think one of my pet peeves is when I just join a group and people automatically think they know how well you know your class and can tank (or not).
While I'm not main specced prot, my warrior has been my main for over 2 years, and I'm pretty well versed in the way he is to be played. Also, he is geared decently for the few heroics or non progression raid pugs I do (over 36k hp ub etc)(On guild progression runs I'm always dps anyways). Usually, I have no problem holding aggro, even against well geared dpsers and feel quite comfortable tanking.
But lately, I've been seeing random pugs say stuff (before the instance even started) like "hold aggro, tank"... (Gah, I HATE it when someone calls me "tank" or "warrior" instead of my chars name). Or being told to do things by other players that don't make sense, like "kite Korgalon" (as in all the time), even though there is no fire anywhere near him - not even behind. Or saying I should "stand on top of the main tank" (and not even right next to him was not good enough...) even though metor fists hits all targets within a 10 yard range of the initial target. These people tend to get whiney if you dont listen right away, etc.
I know it might sound elitest to others, and I am sure that, even though I know how to play my class there are always things that can be done cleaner or better, but I just really hate when random people tell you what to do, even if they are wrong, or haven't even seen you perform to tell whether you're able to do your job.
I would understand it if i lost aggro all the time or was new to it, but I usually feel in complete control of the situation, and no where near the point where I am jepordizing the group.

Tanks that doesn't hold aggro causing me to die.

I hate elemetal shamans that use thunderstorm in instances without having it glyphed so that they constantly are pushing all mobs away from me. Today this happened in HC Nexus and I asked the Shaman to stop using the spell, he just said that Nexus is "eezz mode". That is not the point! As a Warrior it´s really annoying when you finally have grouped up all the casters and they get pushed away from you (with heroic throw on cd of course).

I hate elemetal shamans that use thunderstorm, or mages with blast wave, or druids with typhoon, in instances without having it glyphed so that they constantly are pushing all mobs away from me.
Fixed :)
My GM used to do this with his mage. His main is a prot warrior but he wanted a few runs on his mage one day. As it turned out, we ended up running about 7 or 8 instances with me as the tank. By the time we were done I could have throttled the bastard (RL friend - I know where he lives -.-).
Guess who removed their glyph of thunderstorm next time their GM was tanking. Yeah, I think he got the point >.>

Speaking as a paladin tank, I get really
really
annoyed when my healer says, "What, you're a paladin, heal yourself, lawlzomgheehee."
That's great and all, but I'm a tad busy staying ahead of the mage that's double-stacking aoe and the warlock that says "lolwut?" when I suggest a
Soulshatter.
I'm a TANK. I'm specced to tank, not to heal. I've got 6k mana, and I'm using it all to make sure the mobs aren't eating your clothie ass. Only seems right for you to try and keep me alive.
Other than that, I ignore dps QQ at all times. I know my threat output, and I go berzerk at all times to make sure you can't pull off me. If for some reason you do and it's
not
a failure on my part (which I will and have copped to), you yanked it, you tank it. Oh, you died? Yeah, my rez spell doesn't work on fail, you'll have to run.
To the poster that mentioned people calling you by function? Respond in kind.
dps, "Tank, hold aggro."
Me, "Asshat, pew pew."
dps, "What's your problem?"
Me, "If we're calling people by what they are...."

What annoys me is when dps just blindly pick a target to nuke tho i'ts obvious which target that should be taken down first. When I'm focusing on the correct mob, the dps just pewpew randomly and I ofc lose aggro on the mob that they dps. It's quite irritating.
When it comes to ninjapulls and such, do it all you like but if you even think about complaining about the tanking...

On pugged heroics i actually stopped bothering. My wishlist as tank for a dps in 5man is few:
* Try and do 1k dps or more on average, if the rest of the dpsers are that low too, ill switch around some gear to compensate so dont worry.
* Try not to stand in bad stuff (you dont actually have to succeed, just a small effort and im happy)
* If i mark mobs, try attacking them in the order i have marked, if that is too hard stick to aoe attacks, dont single target dps.
* Let me do the pulling.

2 things.
Earlier today actually, i was on my feral druid got a group for zf, had a 51 warrior who wanted us (all about 44ish) to do st with him, despite the fact that we were a bit under leveled for it. Anyways he stuck around and despite me saying i would tank, he decided he would tank, duel wielding in berserker stance. I switched into cat just because i can, cuz i'm always willing not to tank. Well, we semi-wiped on the staircase event because he decided to rush down the stairs, He left and we four manned it with ease after that.
TL:DR, Just because you're higher level and wearing plate, does not mean Fury can tank.
And 2ndly. I was on my prot warrior tanking BF, and of course being in HFP, had a group with 2 dk's. Well both of them decided that they would tank. And after about the 4th time they Death Gripped a mob from me i left. Trying to tank with 2dk's is hard enough for a prot warrior at 60ish, but they didn't understand that. Oh well.

1) People doing things when I have
specifically asked them not to
. The death knight class seems to encourage this behaviour from my experience.
2) People in LFG who ask for a DK/paladin tank for VoA because "warriors can't tank adds". I've yet to see a paladin or death knight do a better job than me on Emalon's adds.
3) Paladins that cannot buff. Unfortunately, this seems to be around 90% of them. To quote Rip Torn from the movie,
Dodgeball
:
"It's like watching a bunch of retards trying to f**k a doorknob".
Get
Pallypower
or just buff what your raid leader asks for.
4) Rude, inconstant, socially inept people. This includes those with awful grammer, those who spam lol/rofl/lmao and other inane abbreviations, those who tell others what to do and those who think they know best when their actions prove otherwise and those who persistently link
Recount
(or ask others to do so).

DPS that do happen to pull aggro running screaming around in circles. Seriously IF that happens come to me please don't make me chase you around, and nearly every class has abilities that you can use to drop your threat (soulshatter, feign death, misdirect, tricks of the trade etc.). If you manage to pull aggro off me, STOP Attacking/casting and come to me.
Follow the kill order, I always mark when I'm pugging just for ease and it takes a second to do. There's no reason to lay into that mob with the nipple when skull and x are still upright and then get upset when I don't peel them off you, I'll do it once and ask you not to repeat it. If you do it again then you're on your own and I'll ask the healer to not heal you either.
Was healing ramps on my alt priest last night and we had a prot pally tank, 2 DKs, and a rogue. BOTH DKs were in frost spec...asked them both several times to change to blood, by the 2nd boss one of them had (although she kept DGing mobs the pally wasn't pulling), finally by the last boss the other DK fell into line after I let them die a couple of times.
No matter if you over gear or outlevel the instance it's always good to practice sound tactics, randomly pullilng/ aoeing at will and ignoring kill orders just because you're "uber" and the instances is "rofl sauce" is no excuse for poor playstyle.
I always try and be nice and ask or suggest but if you don't get the picture then guess what I'll let ya die, whether I'm healing or tanking. And if I'm healing wait til I"m full on mana to pull, I always check my healers mana before pulling, just common sense IMO.

Oh man.. where to start?
1.) Death Knights. I know of five DK's that I'd run with anytime. The rest of them are in frost presence (CUZ AH BE FROST SPEC DPS U NOOB) throwing out armies at the WORST possible time, spamming duel challenges while we're summoning at the stone all the while bragging about the l33t dps they're about to do in our heroic.
Then they go and put out a l33t 900 dps.
Freaking griptards. I was really hoping they'd do away with that class in the expansion.
okay, I don't really want the class done away with but whenever I join a pug and I see more than one death knight, I get a little knot in my stomach.
2.) Arrogant Healers. Stop being so full of yourselves, you know who you are. I know healing can be annoying, hey- I'm a healer that rerolled a tank because I got tired of healing, I understand. However, don't come off acting like you're doing all of us lesser beings a favor by gracing us with your presence. I can put up with low dps or new 80's that aren't sure of themselves. I will
not
put up with rudeness and will swiftly kick your butt out of the group if you start treating people poorly for no reason.
3.) People that leave a group without giving a reason.
Especially
when said person started the group.
4.) People telling me how to pull, what to pull and when to pull it. I'm not perfect but if we haven't even done one pull yet please don't assume that I'm an idjit that needs to be micromanaged. (This usually comes from Arrogant Healers, see #2.)
5.) Get your own damn dps meter and keep it to yourself, please. (It's all e-peen stroking anyway. Funny how the lowest dps never ask to see a dps meter spammed, isn't it?)
Sorry 'bout the proverbial wall of text, just had to unload. I've been pugging a lot lately.
I feel better now :)
*Edit*
Follow the kill order, I always mark when I'm pugging just for ease and it takes a second to do.
You still mark? I only mark one with a skull and hope for the best. Mark more than one and it seems to confuse people : /

Hearing DKs, Bears, and Paladins $%^&* about how hard AoE tanking is.
If I (a warrior) can tank Onyxia whelps with few problems, you can too.
