Caverns of Time: Redemption of Hellscream
Edit: Here is the link to the original mission, which does include Jaina:
By Demons Be Driven
I noticed someone has posted a version of this for a raid with lore issues, but I always thought it would be more epic as a 5 man dungeon. Having played through the final Orc mission in WC 3 this came naturally, so enjoy and comment as you will. If you would like more info just let me know.
Style:
5-man/5-man Heroic
Number of Bosses:
5
Bosses:
Prince Malchezzar:
Similar to Kara Encounter, Opens a portal and leaves a 5% HP, Drops a sack to loot, takes Grom's Axe, after Mannoroth is defeated and then teleports out.
Grom Hellscream:
Arms Warrior, Mortal Strike, Bladestorm and "Hellscrem's Shout", Gets sucked into the soul gem when defeated, loot his belongings form nearby tent
Chrono Lord Rezza:
Similar to all other Chrono Lords, melee mostly, haste and slow effect, loot corpse
Temporal Lord Akxellion:
Comes after 5 waves of mobs, standard dragon with time stop and other abilities, flys up and energizes Mannaroth at 1% hp then dies, loot his corpse that falls nearby after he energizes Mannaroth
Mannaroth:
Pit Fiend, Grom tanks, Thrall DPS, heroism, and healing at 15% fight is over. Loot Corpse
Mobs:
Fel Orcs, Demons, and Infinite Dragonflight
Outline
Deliver the soul gem to Jaina (Like identifying the grain crates)
Accompany Cairne and Thrall to Grom
Fel Orcs first then demons and more fel orcs
Eventually only Doomguards, Infernals, and then fight Prince Malchezzar (who runs to away before you kill him (1% hp) back to Mannaroth)
Thrall and Grom talk, Grom tells Thrall of Mannaroth
Thrall attacks Grom
Defeat Grom and store his soul in the gem provided by Jaina
Thrall’s forces set up a parameter asks the toons to break through the lines and allow Jaina and her forces passage to where they are to purify Grom
Fight Infinite Dragonflight and fel orcs as you work your way to Jaina.
Get to Jaina she is being attacked by Chrono Lord Rezza, defeat him and Jaina accompanies you back to Thrall
They begin the ritual to Cleanse Grom
Defend Thrall, Cairne and Jaina as they cleanse Grom
Tribunal of Ages style encounter, with a boss at the end
Temporal Lord Akxellion attacks after 5 waves (of demons, fel orcs and infinite dragonflight), Dragon boss a la Aeonus
After defeating him, he flies over and infuses Mannaroth with the last of his energy before dying
“I will not fail! The orcs cannot be redeemed!”
Go with Thrall and Grom and face Mannaroth. At 15% cut scene from WC 3 Orc Campaign shows (either actual, or in game cutscene)
Cairne and Jaina stay behind to led the alliance and new horde armies to clean up the rest of the fel orcs.
The players still do most of the work, as usual, and Grom gets a Kill Steal
Malchezzar appears form the shadows after Mannaroth's defeat and pulls the axe from his chest and teleports out.
Ambiance:
While running around helping Thrall, Cairne and Jaina a huge fight can be seen between the New Horde forces, Jaina's Forces and the Fel Orcs just outside of target range to get the feel of the battle being waged. You are disguised as Orcs (humans, dwarves, undead), Tauren (dreanei, gnomes, goblins) and Trolls (night elf, blood elf, worgen).

Why is Jaina helping fight Grom?
Other than that, I'd do it. I love the orcs and their lore, especially when it focuses on the New Horde rather than the old. Escape from Durnholde was good, but it had the potential to be so much better, and opening the Dark Portal was just icky. Yeah, it had to be done and all, but it's just a reminder of all the terrible things they were about to do after.

Why is Jaina helping fight Grom?
I added a link to the original WC3 mission this is based off of called "By Demons be Driven" and Jaina shows up in it because Thrall asked for her help with Grom. Though I did make her a bit more plot related, it ultimately doesn't change the lore or the outcome since she was there and helped to begin with.

I know she helped free Grom, I played the mission. She wasn't there to fight Mannoroth, though, that was Grom and Thrall alone (and with the help of some Caverns of Time adventurers who will be erased from their memories... :P)

You said fight Grom initially. I know she wasn't actually there to fight Mannaroth, it just seems like the way I set it up you end up with Grom, Cairne, Jaina and Thrall there, though I suppose that Cairne and Jaina might have to stay behind to hold off the rest of the fel orcs and let Thrall, Grom and the players fight Mannaroth.
Which actually sounds like a better idea.
Edit: I changed it to the above. Now its epic, lol

You're right, I did say that. How dare you not be able to read my mind! You should instantly know what I mean no matter what I type! :P
I just don't want another War of the Ancients Trilogy-esque "and here's how it really happened, thank to time travel!"
It makes Grom's sacrifice less epic, if you ask me.

Prince Malchezzar: Similar to Kara Encounter, Opens a portal and leaves a 5% HP, Drops a sack to loot, takes one of Grom's Axes
The Prince shows up? That's...... kind of random. I know he had the axe (got two of them on my warrior at one point heh), but it just seems weird; "Oh sure just walk off Thrall and Grom, you know we'll deal with the massive Eredar that just popped out of nowhere."

Well...Prince is the first boss you face on the way to Grom. Ideally he's been put there by Mannaroth to try and stop you, but when you're about to kill him he portals to Karazhan and takes one of Grom's axes.
At least that is what I was trying to get at. I mean, he had to have done something before ending up in Karazhan.

Yeah, but if you use him.... you know a lot of the new players are just going to scratch their head and go "Whut? Who's he? Prince? Why did he take that axe? What was the point?"
Not saying it's a bad idea it's just really random. And there was only Axe, he wasn't a duel weilder, blademaster's were master's of twohanded weapons, but they prefered to just use one.

It was more to be one of those little lore nods Blizzard likes to do like the purifying of the crystal in Hillsbrad or the shops and stuff in Culling of Strat.
There is probably a better way to do it, but no one knows exactly how Prince got Gorehowl...i guess he could runs off to Mannaroth, stand there in the shadows, and after Mannoroth dies, grabs the axe and teleports out.
No one really knows how he got the axe anyway.

Exactly, so having the Prince steal the Axe in the first fight when:
During the second coming of the Burning Legion, Hellscream took his axe to the pit lord Mannoroth after Thrall was beat into unconsciousness. With a single blow, Hellscream cleaved his adversary's weapon in two and slew Mannoroth. Hellscream perished shortly afterwards, but he had managed to break the curse over his people, freeing their souls and spirits from the demonic curse forever.
It should also be noted that Gorehowl is the weapon which slew the night elf demigod Cenarius.
So..... he doesn't have the axe when he fight's Mannoroth?
All I'm saying man.

Yeah, error on my part. Its fixed now. He runs back to Mannaroth, is low on health so he hides when Thrall, Grom and the players arrive and while we're all tending to Grom's dying words, steals the axe and teleports out.

Here's another idea for why Prince is there: he's preventing you from assisting Cenarius.
Cenarius is already dead at this point.

I was more going on that Prince was a Lieutenant of Mannaroth (there is no lore to disprove this theory) and that is why he has legions at his command when you fight in him Kara and uses/drops Gorehowl.
And he was there to try and prevent you from getting to Grom Hellscream, which he failed at. Mostly I wanted a connection between Grom's death and Prince, and not make Grom the first boss of the instance.

I think the other person who posted this idea was me in my Great Sea thread. It's not a stand alone instance, it's the final instance in a series of adventures spanning the W3: RoC Orc campaign.
In any case, I dont know what 'lore issues' I had, other than maybe not having the Infinite Dragonflight as the antagonists. Actually, fact is, they're not involved at all! Simply put, time travel has malleated spacetime at different places and times, one such being Thrall's adventure.
In any case, I have an idea.
What if as you need to 'leave with Grom and Thrall' you need to leave someone behind to help defend them. If they die, bad things happen. You might not need to leave someone behind at all, but they CAN die from more assaults. Just make sure you kill Mannoroth quickly enough... say, an hour?

No...Claggi, it wasn't you, it was this thread started by Eveko:

that I was referring too.
