Before you get on your high horses and say don't even think about it.
I was just thinking of the damage capabilities of other healing specs, notably discipline priests, have very nice damage output for a healing spec.
So what about holy? I'm thinking blizzard should give holy some more core damage abilities and even include talents in the holy tree that could be used for a semi-viable DPS spec (kind of like one-hand fury warriors, not bad but not great)
Would be nice if they were able to kill stuff for quests a bit faster, apply extra pressure in PvP and do moderate PvE damage.

Give us something in the expansion. I'm semi predicting something holy-shock-ish, something that works as a DPS tool and a heal (lets face it, if they're going to give us something every other healer has, they might as well keep the "holy paladin" flair). Something half way between Flash of Light and Holy Light as a heal, with a 2.0 second cast, and high mana cost when used offensively, dealing moderate damage.
Something similar to the above would be cool without being OP. A high mana cost would most likely ensure we can't use it too much in PvP or PvE.

But really, we have dual spec now for this reason.

Forcing 1/4 healers to farm an alternate set of gear to do dailies is fair.

The majority of time I spend doing dailies, regardless of spec, is time spent on travel or riding vehicles or waiting for item cooldowns. This is by design, I'm confident. As a result, the difference in time it takes me to do dailies as ret and the time it takes as holy is negligible.

I dont know why you still complain on holy DPS.
Its not viable in raids oh HCs, but through leveling its quite OK.
I can even fullfil a role of DPS in Northrend instances and my 700 boss DPS, though not big, is still some 60-80% of other DPSers, depending on time and money their mains have spent on them (my is a pure newbie, no "twinking").
I did 500 DPS on lvl70 with outland greenies/quest blues, I do 700 now on 74 with wotlk instance drops. In holy gear.
And while out of instances, AoE grind with FoL/HL allows me to kill tons of mobs at once.
So, NP.

I did 800~ DPS at level 70 in TBC in level 80 blues. :(
The point is that for a long time Holy did reasonable DPS, then, in the process of buffing retribution for WoTLK, they accidently nerfed holy and never fixed it. Never even gave an explanation as to -why-.
EDIT: Oh, and then nerfed Retribution and nerfed holy again in the process. And again.

Its been discussed some time ago, you can spec "shockadin" as dual if you wont bother with a second set of gear. It does somehow work pretty good for solo.
