Yes it is...
MyTie can't read an algebraic proof.

Do you think there is a god and are you a religious person?
Yes he does, and yes he is.
You fail at predicting my answer.
To answer the origional question:
I believe in an omnipotent being, and would label that being as in existance. Any more language beyond that usually leads to miscommunicated, due to the vast differences between the definitions of 'religion'.

In your opinion what would really happen if a unstoppable force met a immovable object?
Also this math is correct right?
x=0.999....
10x=9.999....
10x-x=9.999....-0.999.......
9x=9
x=1
1=0.999.....
if x=0.999999, then 10x=9.999999, if 9x=9, then x=1, however my problem iwth the math is the last line "1=.999999"

This thread is a test, both for MyTie and for the rest of you. If you guys can manage to be civil to one another, you pass. :P

I'd love to field a question from you, Malgayne. Go ahead!

When has MyTie ever acted non civil (i have been around for a long lurking the forums with out an account, so dont say i have not been around that long)
Edit: what is your favorite sport?
I'm going to have to say, I've overstepped my bounds a few times.

Read it again... and Laihendi will provide a line-by-line explanation to go along with it.
x = 0.999...
not much to say here.
10x = 9.999...
So 0.999... x 10 = 9.999... you move the decimal over to the right one place when you multiple something by ten.
10x-x=9.999....-0.999...
It has already been established that x = 0.999... and 10x = 9.999... so subtracting x from 10x is the same thing as subtracting 0.999... from 9.999...
9x=9
Woah! 9.999... - 0.999... = 9. Basic subtraction.
x=1
9x divided by 9 is... x. And 9 divided by 9 is... one!
1=0.999...
It was already established at the beginning of the proof that x = 0.999... but as you can see, it is also equal to 1. So if 0.999... = x = 1, then 0.999 = 1.
Algebraic proofs are something you can't really dispute... so don't even try. Doing so shows ignorance about something taught to middle school students. On a slightly off-topic note, this is an example of why Laihendi doesn't think you're fit to school children.

And the fact that I got stumped by a math problem after only glancing over it doesn't mean I'm incapable of teaching. I wonder how many school teachers would not get this question right immediately. The fact that you jumped on the first one I got wrong just demonstrates your biases against me.
If you're only coming to this thread to try and burn me, then all you'll get is a shrug in return.

You have aids and you are trapped in prison.

Not much I can do at that point. Meditate maybe.

4-line shrug crits you for 837383 (837382 overkill).

The problem is the "0.9999..." Make this a real number, and the math checks out just fine. Take .999 for example. 8.991 / 9 = x is true.
Again, I shrug.

Not to be picky (that's a lie), but 0.999... is already a real number.

Am I allowed to answer that?
(That's my question btw)
