The reason I picked the faction I play is because I dislike the races of the other faction.... I don't want to see a gnome and not be able to attack it. =\

NICE I LIKE IT AND...
Female Horde players have the Lovely Blood Elf Females.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##hatman555##DELIM##

Female tauren have the worst ass in the whole game. I couldn't play one because it was like watching a balloon half-filled with water sloshing back and forth, and of course all the lowbie cloaks are too short to hide it.
aaanyway. From an RP perspective, I like this. I know I have an neutral undead now -- a night elf with noggenfogger and sometimes the orb of deception, RP'd as undead but desperately wanting to re-join the alliance. Or I know I have a friend who plays a blood elf who has beat his addiction down to a manageable level and rolls his eyes at the other belfs -- he'd probably join the alliance.
And I like the thoughts of balancing things, like... Oh, the best example I can think of is pre-BC ony, where alliance whined about not having shamans and horde whined about not having fear ward. So if someone's whining because they don't have X overpowered racial on their raid team....
Realistically, though, I'm not interested in having a dozen horde gnomes named something like 'cantstompmenow' or alliance undead named 'infectinurmom.' or "LEVEL 80 UNDEAD IN CATH o wait its me LOL," or the crying from people who can't use their old mounts/can't get new ones and can't get X achievement because of it, or shelled out the money (I like the idea of money and a quest) but couldn't get through the quest, either because it was long or difficult or they're just a moron.

The dreadsteed quests spring to mind when you mentioned that.

I asked them about why they did it and these are their comments
prices on AH
I like horde players better
friends play horde
I can't get in a good guild on alliance side
guild people on alliance are all A$%^&*
comments ?

well bliz stands to make some big money with this and its other stuff so that is your answer.
Change server, change faction, then change name, change race. When will you be able to change class?
And if you have 3 or 4+ chrs on an account it will cost $1000 to change it all....big money for bliz for about 5 key strokes.
why do people try to make anything bliz does something about LORE, HONOR, ARENA, GAME MECHANICS
NONE of these mean anything to bliz only $$$$$

It would just make picking a faction meaningless (as if it wasn't meaningless enough already).
Factions couldn't possibly
be
more meaningless! :)
The only point to having factions is to distinguish between the players you can attack and the players you cannot attack. That's it.
Which is why the grass will always be greener on the other side of the fence.
Who
wouldn't
want to be allowed to kill the idiots you listen to in trade chat?

I know, I know. Reviving old, OLD posts are frowned upon but I think this is a relevant issue.
I just recently got Cata (just started playing last spring) and I was thinking that I would like to have a Goblin or two as Alliance. For one I like Stormwind and Ironforge much better than the Horde capitols. Just my taste. It is also very relevant to the story in the game. There are mixed factions EVERYWHERE!
All this sounds wonderful to players who crave mixing things up a little, etc. but I do see one glaring problem - Battlegrounds. You couldn't kill the traitor (thinking its an enemy but could cause some confusion, which incedently disrupts to flow of the game, to put it mildly).
Just mt 2 cents worth.
PS. Goblins were originally, at the start, nuetral and are apparently very keen at making deals for profit with little use for loyalty (what I get from the story) so it just makes sense that they should be able to choose a faction. There are, after all, Alliance on Shipwreck Island.
Um....except for the part where the Alliance sink the ship you are on.....

Yep. Steamwheedle is still neutral, however you play a Bilgewater goblin. Bligewater is still pretty pissed at the alliance for blowing up their boat.

All of your suggestions goes against the lore, which should be followed by the book. If you really want to faction change, do a faction change. But don't mess up the lore. There is a reason why those races are in the Alliance and the other races are in the Horde.
