WoW - magnet for bad players
Return to board index
Post by

Hello,
first I wanne say that i don't want to offend any one with this thread. It's just about experiences I made during my very long play time:
This game is a magnet for bad players without the minimum of skill in logic and reaction time.
I'm tired of the countless wipes i've witnessed because of people not going out of extremely easy visable beams of light underneath them.
I'm tired of all the DPS pulling 1,4k dps in raid despite having all 80 epic equip.
I'm tired of fellow druids spamming nourish the whole evening and can't be taught at all.
I'm tired of the stupid housewives doing nothing but giggling in TS and pushing a button every five seconds.
I won't start talking about battlegrounds because playing them nearly caused loss of faith in humanity.
If you ever tried playing games like Warcraft 3 or even Counter Strike with the amount of skill it takes to play WoW you would be considered a total noob.
I would not complain if the majority would have atleast a minimum of skill, but this is
not
the case...
This had to be said. I'm Sorry.

I dont feel offended, i rather think i got your point, i mean with 11 million players, wow more or less seems a little bit mainstream. People hears about WoW all the time, and more rarely other RPGS, anyway you find more n00bs over at RS anyway... THought i find it entertaining sometimes :P
Though i think that people should learn to play the game during the lvling peroid, its too easy to lvl...
what im i talking about? dunno

Well there is without a doubt a large amount of the type of players you just explained I have had a lot of fun with in guild people or people I knew, knew what to do. Its just a thing about getting in with the right crowed.

While I understand the frustration that comes from watching people do what comes naturally to you, not everybody has been gaming for many years. I am still fairly new to the game, though I feel I am far from an idiot and have learned my class(es) fairly well as I leveled them. My highest toon is at 71 right now. Each dungeon I enter is slightly more chaotic than the previous and I am sure once I hit 80, I will likely do a few of the things mentioned above. Sometimes I am fortunate to have someone in the group who quickly explains the boss fight and how to handle some situations and that makes it much easier.
You need to realize that until you have done some of these things multiple times, they are very hectic. Sometimes newer players aren't staring at their own player because they are watching the fight, so they don't see that they now have a green tint with poison damage being done and move too late. Ignorance is often confused with stupidity and people seem to have zero tolerance for the fact that somebody might not know what to be on the lookout for. I would certainly be frustrated if the same mistakes occurred multiple times after an explanation of what was done wrong. Players get better over time, though some obviously have a skill cap and some bought their accounts and seem to have no desire to learn.
Oh sure, I don't expect people to figure everything out in one attempt. I expect them to learn and not repeat their mistakes once they figure out what that mistake was. Like if I see a melee die to Shockwave on P1 Mimiron, I expect him to learn from it and not die from it the second time around. If you don't know what to look out for, that's not the issue, nor is it my complaint. My complaint is against those who simply can't learn.
TBH I understand what you're saying.
At the sametime, there's not much you can do about it, and this thread just becomes QQ :/
Trust me, we've all been there. It happens.
That's why you take off the head set.
Type a "brb" or /afk
Go relax,
And come back.
(Or do the easy way and be the RL and boot their sorry asses >:) )
Unless it's guildies, which if it is; you need to have a serious talk to your GM about his/her skill and try and get the guild to help him. If he still fails, just don't take him on raids or gkick him.
Not much you can do.

That's okay, it was never intended to be more than QQ.
I QQ for a game that could be fun when purged from the idiocy it is spoiled with. Never had more fun in a video game attempting 10 man ulduar hard modes with a skilled group.
Maybe im just not social or tolerant enough.

But at the same time, that's about as simple as purging the world of idiots. Sure, there's impatient people and un-tolerant people of those who are slow (You and I) and then there are people who want to support and love those people while finding their incompetence acceptable; (
Democrates)
lolwut?
Just kidding.
But no really, life is life, and as much as everyone would like to be dictator and change things how you would like, it just simply isn't done.
So for now, we tear our hair out. :P
